I am at the site of a truly horrendous Russian missile attack. Overnight, one of the largest American investments in Ukraine – Flex – an active member of the American Chamber of Commerce was hit by Russian missiles.

This was not only an attack on Ukraine. It was an attack on American business. Two missiles struck the factory, where 600 employees were working the night shift. Thanks to strict safety protocols, every life was saved. Russia is not only devastating Ukraine — it is destroying and humiliating American business.

The region neighbors the EU and has been considered the safest region in Ukraine. Now definitely not so. We call on President Trump to stand with American business and to confront Vladimir Putin’s campaign of destruction.

Yeah, sic 'em TACO.

Once again you prove you are clueless. Compressor stations are usually 200 miles, or less, apart for gas pipelines to make up for pressure loss in the pipeline. Nord Stream is 800 miles long.

YOU know ZERO about natural gas despite your supposed membership.

IF anyone gets their info from Google, it's you. FTR, Google hasn't been very accurate for the last 15 years with meaningful results on engineering and technology. Far too many ID10T bloggers and journalists have mucked up the possible results from searches

Gen Keane says you are wrong. There are details to be completed with Europe first and that is what Trump is getting done.

United24 Media is an Ukrainian government controlled propaganda website.

I'd take anything they say about business activity in Russia with a grain of salt.

And Weatherford International's legal domicile is in Ireland since 2014, not the U.S., although one of its subsidiaries in based in the U.S. (Houston).

Weatherford has been sanctioned and fined multiple times for violating international sanctions for doing business in Sudan, Cuba and Venezuela which led to the company having declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy in July, 2019.

US oilfield services group expands Russian unit despite new sanctions

Weatherford International along with other companies continue to provide critical equipment to the country

US oilfield services group Weatherford International is expanding its Russia business despite strict new sanctions designed to curb the flow of petrodollars crucial to President Vladimir Putin’s war chest.

The Houston-based company generated 7 per cent of its $2.4bn revenue in the first six months of the year in Russia, up from 5 per cent a year earlier. Its operations in the country included $332mn in cash and other assets at the end of June, compared with $233mn at the end of 2024, according to an analysis of securities filings.

The Financial Times has identified about 100 job adverts posted by Weatherford in Russia since late February, when the new US sanctions designed to crack down on American oilfield services companies operating in Russia took effect.

The disclosures highlight how some US companies’ Russian units continue to provide critical equipment and services to the country’s oil and gas sector, more than three years after Putin ordered the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. US President Donald Trump met Putin in Alaska on Friday for talks to end the war, which Russia has financed heavily through petroleum sales in part facilitated by western groups.

If you or CircleK ran that company they’d be out of business

My definition of a breakthrough is a gap being created in the defensive line allowing large amounts of attackers to break through the gap to advance behind enemy lines into undefended areas and then hold onto to those areas and gain a large tactical advantage.

This type of breakthrough has been expected all season; yet even though thousands of troops have been killed it hasn’t happened yet even though Ukraine is reported to be short of troops.

I mentioned someone pointing out "this wasn't a 'breakthrough,' it was a 'walkthrough.'" It was like someone finding a hole in a fence of a secured site and a team of people sneaking in... sure, that can be a problem and they can do a lot of damage, but it's a limited incursion. This was no "Kursk."

They also pointed out that Russian channels made such a big deal out of it the very moment they could post any pics or video that Ukraine instantly moved forces to the area to stop it before more Russians could exploit the hole they found.

Possibly of relevance to this conflict and beyond...

Rapid falls in the level of the Caspian Sea are affecting ports and oil shipments according to Azerbaijani officials.

As Penrod pointed out to me in 2022, it is connected to the Black Sea via a canal from the Volga to the Don which is deep enough for offshore workboats to transit to it as well as Russia's missile boats. Perhaps any locks have failed or are improperly operated by Russia.

I don't think Putin will give his Ok for a no-fly zone over Ukraine. All parties know this brain fart will be DOA.

There is already a de facto no-fly zone over Ukraine, which has been in place since the start of the war.

A deceased friend from Houma, Hal Dixon, was a directional driller for Weatherford. He had an engineering from Hail State with NROTC and flew fighters in the USMC before being transferred to USN where he flew in the same squadron as McCain. He did not think much of McCain as a man or as a pilot. Hal also worked for the CIA and didn't think much of those Ivy League idiots in their planning and ability to execute any missions in SE Asia.

Russia stopped flying over or close to Ukraine because they were losing too many aircraft to manpads and air defenses early in the invasion.

Former US Army vice chief of staff General Jack Keane says the Trump administration has been “working hard” to put together security guarantees in the path to securing a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine.

“These security guarantees cannot be underestimated – they are absolutely critical,” Gen Keane told Sky News host Andrew Bolt.

“We have to put deterrents there – some have been on the ground, some air power ... to make certain that Russia sees that and knows that they would be in a much larger war if they attack.

“We think we can achieve that kind of deterrence.”

No, this is not a parody account however the gap between these proposals and reality can easily be measured by simply looking at who sits in the White House. It'll be mildly fun to watch but I'll stick with my original estimate - brain fart.
