Las Vegas Strip mass murderer Stephen Paddock used his Mandalay Bay hotel room to fire bullets at jet fuel tanks Sunday night, a knowledgeable source told the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

The bullets left two holes in one of two circular white tanks. One of the bullets penetrated the tank, but did not cause a fire or explosion near the Route 91 Harvest country music festival, another knowledgeable source said late Wednesday.

The tanks are roughly 1,100 feet from the concert site, where Paddock killed 58 people and wounded almost 500. Several airplane hangars belonging to prominent corporations are also near the tanks.

Again? You would have thought they got to his room by now.

Btw, bullet holes are just as likely from some drunk gambler who wanted to create a boom.

It sounds like he wanted a complete killing/explosion. Kind of hard to say he was working alone and was just nuts.

700 yards with an AR-15 trying to shoot through a fuel tank??... but yet this guy was a mastermind at planning and gun skills??

It’s either or right there bc both of those statements don’t match up to each other.

You can't blow up a tank like that with a bullet. All fuel, no air. No boom without O2.

Jet fuel needs to be in an aerosol form in order to ignite. You can put a blow torch on an open container of jet fuel and it won't ignite...well it would take about 30 seconds to ignite then likely burn slowly like a big candle.

None of this makes any sense. The whole deal is odd. Starting with the perps brother stating that the perp never shot a firearm, then in his next version a few paragraphs down; he says his brother had guns in his safe with a rifle.

How would bullets entering the tank cause either?

Everybody that lived through that attack is lucky he didn't, and it has nothing to do with the fuel tanks.

Any time he spent on trying to blow up the fuel tanks likely saved innocent lives at the concert or on the streets below. Watching videos I was waiting for him to start shooting at the police cars as the arrived in front of the hotel. So glad he didn't.

And tracer rounds wouldn't ignite jet fuel.

Do a little experiment when you get home.

Jet fuel and diesel are very similar. Put a teaspoon of diesel in a shot glass and try and light it with a match or lighter. You're going to have a very hard time. It might light if it's 95 degrees and really dry outside however if it does light it will likely burn out on it's own before all the fuel is gone.

Tracers going into a fuel tank would simply burn out due to the lack of O2.

You need the right combination of air (O2) and fuel to burn jet fuel. Now if you put some jet fuel or diesel in a spray bottle and spray it across a lit match you're going to get a burst of flame. The spray bottle is mimicking fuel injectors in jet engines or diesel engines.

Diesel engine fuel injector aerosol:

What if he'd put tannanite on the containers?

Yes, but that's not my point. He was shooting from 400 yards away at night. Think about why tracers are used.
