Does the American president have the unique ability to rename geographical locations on a whim or can any world leader do it? What's to stop the Canadian PM from renaming Washington DC to Canadatown or the Atlantic Ocean to the Canadian Ocean?

Federal statutes (43 U.S.C. 364–364f). These laws set up the Board on Geographic Names.

I always see this and to give you and others a reality check, if Trump wasn’t President, none of these midterm races would have any support. Don’t forget the elections are on those candidates it’s not like Trump picked them, but he has endorsed them and campaigned for many of them. Just imagine if Trump wasn’t president how midterms would go.

Based on the same sort of polling apparatus that tells us that Talfreako is neck and neck with Paxton?

Trump doesn't even try. The guy in charge of it in Trump's first term, his Congressional Whip, basically said that the admin didn't give a frick about legislation.

He does a lot of great stuff but his work with congress in both terms is indicative of his lack of government experience

but he all the time praises himself for his deals...yet he cant be a leader to get things done in congress? Shitty fricking leader.

Nobody is surprised you brought such a stupid post along.

The federal government will now call former Lake Ontario, Lake America. Have you cried about this yet?

You guys repeat this constantly, but whether it is a sincere perception, an inherited talking point or an outright lie, the claim is completely disconnected from reality. I will give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you are not intentionally lying.

When Trump has actually made legislation a priority, congressional Republicans have supported him at historically high rates. In 2025, House Republicans backed Trump’s positions 95 percent of the time and Senate Republicans 96 percent of the time. He prevailed on 76 of the 80 House legislative votes and 44 of the 54 Senate legislative votes on which he took a position. That is not a Congress controlled by people who hate him. That is an extraordinarily compliant Congress delivering almost everything he seriously asks of it.

The reason so much of Trump’s agenda consists of executive orders is that he deliberately designed it around executive power. You cannot blame Congress for failing to pass legislation Trump never wrote, negotiated or asked it to consider. When he does make the effort, Republicans usually deliver.

The Lake America order was not issued after Congress rejected a bill. As usual, no bill was proposed. Trump went directly from a Truth Social post to an executive order in two days. Congress cannot obstruct legislation that Trump never attempted to legislate. For comparison, when Republicans introduced legislation codifying his equally stupid Gulf of America order, the House passed it 211–206, with only one Republican voting against him.

This happens constantly because MAGA claims become accepted facts inside the bubble through repetition rather than evidence. Trump makes a claim, Tim Pool or some other 'alt' media idiot spins it, supporters repeat it to one another, and nobody stops to check whether it is true. In this case, two minutes examining the actual voting record destroys your entire argument. At some point, refusing to leave the bubble or question anything the administration tells you stops being innocent ignorance and you just become a voluntary mouthpiece for lies you could easily have disproved yourself.

This is the type of, symbolism over substance, stuff that Rush Limbaugh hated. It irrelevant, useless gestures to take our minds off of real issues like, high gas and food problems.
