“This is not an insignificant thing,” said Tulane law professor Joel Friedman. The investigation found that for 79 days in 2018, Bishop called in sick at SUNO.

“This is theft, misappropriation of funds [by] saying you need money because you’re home sick. Then stay home. Don’t go out to other functions and do job,” Friedman said

Damn, Friedman is harder on this guy than he was on me in Civ Pro when I was a 1L.

The fact that SUNO still exists is the essence of everything wrong with Louisiana

SUNO still being open makes me chuckle when I see the biannual "What university should we close" thread on the OT

SUNO has a 5% graduation rate.

So it's made up of 5% semi-functional human beings that probably could have gotten a degree from somewhere else, 45% Pell grant scheme, and 50% political patronage jobs for black legislators family members.

And they bitched and screamed and yelled bloody murder when there was talk of merging it with UNO. I guess they were afraid that combining would bring their rate up to a whopping 9%.

Bishop works full-time at Southern University of New Orleans, a taxpayer-funded college. He is a Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs, where he makes $85,000 a year.

The idea that anybody working at SUNO makes $85k per year is alarming enough.

They will let him change it to “annual leave” because he will say something like I told them to put me on annual leave and they put it as sick. The abuse of leave in state government is rampant and nobody wants to address it.

In fact, Bishop’s sick time included 11 straight work weeks. All of April and May, Bishop does not appear to work one day at SUNO.

He had the itis!

It's a state money pit. No one there is getting educated.
