Can someone explain why this tax is being authorized for 7 years?

Am I missing something?

Add a penny temporarily (one year). Retain .45 for seven years?

Someone tell me what I’m missing but I’m pretty sure this arse pain I feel right now was not from a consensual event

Does it phase out over seven years?

None of them have the balls to fix the real problem of spending and they don’t want to deal with it again for a while.

Actually you did consent to it when you voted for a classic tax and spend liberal in JBE as your Governor despite your alleged and so called conservative beliefs.

This is what you voted for. Stop complaining.

If you don't like it, you have the option of voting against him next year.

Ehh...pretty sure a lot of republicans voted for this including my rep.

You do know governors don’t vote in the house or senate riiiiight????

My underlying question is why it was a 7 year authorization. Even if you want to be a jerk I’d still love to hear why this tax needs to outlive JBEs governorship

Because they don't want to deal with it for awhile. Simple.

Now all the "conservatives" can latch on to the government tit known as TOPS without having to worry for seven years.

Yea. Convenient they do this after the SOCTUS tax decision yet prior to an impact assessment

Sure. They're democrats with a letter R next to their name including my own state senators who are big time ambulance chasers.

I will be voting and campaigning against them next year in addition to my efforts to get rid of JBE.

However, my conscience is still pretty clean because I did not betray my ideological beliefs like you did in voting for JBE.

Bro, there's not a chance in hell you can get a veto proof supermajority in the statehouse to agree on a budget so yes, The Governor is a de facto voter in both chambers.

It's more kicking the can down the road bullshite. Same tactics from from Bobby Jindal's playbook.

No, it actually all started under Blanco. Both her and the legislature.

They also know that Honor Code would just veto any real effort.

I don't understand the basis for your question. Most state taxes are permanent without any type of expiration date.

The other 4% state sales taxes are permanent with no expiration date.

The Louisiana state income tax is permanent with no expiration date.

The previous extra penny you mentioned was for two years not one year.
