Exactly when did this, "We have to pass the bill before we can see it" bullsh# begin? Right -- the 'Patriot Act'.

Rogue, even more corrupt elements (see Agenda 2030) are now subservient to the Global Agenda. Goobmint at the Local, State and Feral level are in control.

There are a lot of bad bills filed in this session which further centralize power in Baton Rouge and in the hands of the Governor.

Our elected officials keep saying we need to be more like Texas, and they keep filing bills that make us more like the Federal government.

Jeff doesn’t want any opposition anywhere. He’s giving Huey P a run for his money & we’re only 4 months into his term.

Some of us last year tried to tell everyone that Landry would probably be a Republican version of JBE, at best, and would possibly be a Republican version of Huey P Long.

But hey, he was Trump endorsed, so anyone who preferred any of the other GOP candidates was just a big ole liberal.

To his “credit” Landry is a better politician than Rispone

Also JBE had decent popularity in 2019… this was before Covid

Corrupt politicians get paid millions on their side business and insider trading, and nobody does shite about it.

This. I still believe had Covid happened in 2018 or 2019, JBE would have acted much less like a Communist dictator.

Also, the Democrats didn’t have another JBE type on their bench to run in 2023 for Governor. Shawn Wilson stood 0 chance. A candidate like him isn’t electable statewide in Louisiana.

Two responses to this bill:

1) This exception already exists for LED, so it’s not a completely new idea.

2) The bill goes too far to fill a gap that absolutely needs to be filled. I’ve worked on municipal economic development projects, and they are HARD to work on. Companies have a disincentive to share information about their business, including its financials or operating documents, because they are immediately public (even if no deal happens). It hamstrings all sides. But I think once a deal is signed, the records should be public except for any confidential business information. Allow the parties room to negotiate, but make them public at the end.

Why did Trump sign the renewal for FISA?

Another thing I disagreed with that Trump did. Doesn’t change my point. Nice deflection.

I will send an email but my district elected a democrat looking for handouts. He is probably going to love that bill.

If public money is being used (either direct grants, tax credits, or forgiveness / release from paying certain taxes), then it needs to be public record.

I understand the companies may not want certain info released, and I also beleive there are probably plenty of company records that are not germain to the deal.

But if a company wants to take public money, then it should be open.

If a company doesn't want to have those conversions be public, then don't take public money.

I still remember in one of the very few candidate forums Landry appeared for, at the LMA one, when all the candidates were asked if they were in favor of decentralizing government and power away from Baton Rouge, Gov Landry completely dodge the intent of the question and gave some speech about needing to be tough on crime.

Tells you all you need to know. Either, he’d never even considered that aspect of government, or he had, and he knew he wanted as much control as possible to be retained in Baton Rouge.
