Full disclosure here, this is a poll commissioned by the Abraham Campaign but the Remington research group is a respected pollster so there's that.

First round numbers here....

quote:

Q: Announced candidates in the 2019 election for Governor of Louisiana are the Democrat John Bel
Edwards, the Republican Eddie Rispone and the Republican Ralph Abraham. If the election were held today, for whom would you vote?

John Bel Edwards: 42%

Eddie Rispone: 8% [GO TO Q8B]

Ralph Abraham: 34% [GO TO Q8C]

Undecided: 16% [GO TO 8D]

Abraham is tied here against JBE.

quote:

Q: If the 2019 election for Governor of Louisiana were held today, and the candidates were just the Democrat John Bel Edwards and the Republican Ralph Abraham, for whom would you vote?

John Bel Edwards: 45%
Ralph Abraham: 45%
Undecided 10%

Now this is going to be a very big problem for JBE right here if this holds up....

quote:

Q: Are you definitely voting for John Bel Edwards or would you consider voting for another Democratic candidate? [DEMOCRATIC PARTY ID RESPONDENTS ONLY]

Definitely Edwards: 49%
Consider another Democrat: 29%
Not voting for a Democrat: 15%
Not sure: 7%

Look at the Favorables and unfavorables and right track and wrong track direction and wanting a new Governor.

quote:

Q: Do you think Louisiana is headed in the right direction or is it going off on the wrong track?
Right direction: 41%
Wrong track: 42%

Not sure: 17%

Q: What is your opinion of Donald Trump?

Favorable: 54%
Unfavorable: 37%
No opinion: 9%

Q: What is your opinion of John Bel Edwards?

Favorable: 44%
Unfavorable: 40%

No opinion: 16%

quote:

Q: Do you believe Governor John Bel Edwards has done a good enough job as Governor to be re-elected, or do you think we should give someone new a chance?

Re-elect Governor John Bel Edwards: 42%
Give someone new a chance: 48%

Undecided: 10%

Regardless of who paid for it, I don't think any of this is a huge surprise. I think JBE is probably underpolled a bit in this poll, but I would expect 46-47 at most for him.

I thought undecided would be higher.

By Party, it was 35% GOP, 50% Dem, 15% Non Party, however, by "ideology" it's 52% conservative, 15% liberal, 33% moderate

In 49 states, that single data set would be enough to invalidate the entire poll.

We are certainly, different, here in LA.

And I'll say it again, WTF is Rispone doing?

Me too.

They called my cell phone.

Non-party affiliated and I went with Abraham, favorable of Trump, wrong direction for LA and give someone new a chance.

I get these calls all the time. I never answer. I'm Independent and likely Abraham but open. Would like to see some debates.

The floor for an unelected democrat in Louisiana is like 41-44%. If anything, this poll adds on a few more vitter hater republicans that somehow have stayed loyal to him for the head to heads against Rispone and Abraham.

But for the first round, he's at 42%.

A hell of a lot of it is going to Abraham with JBE getting a teeny bit chips of it.

Still a good bit of time left but he really needs to start spending those millions on ad spots later this month.

But I'll say that not a whole lot of drop-off with Abraham as he would be just almost if not as good a Governor as Rispone is capable of being.

It's like Ted Cruz and Donald Trump. Both would make great Presidents. Only one of them can win, not both.

The Bumpy Headed, Tax and Spender is in DEEP shite!

The Moron should have vetoed the abortion bill so he could get a National DNC/MSM Political Complex retirement gig!

This is the real message of the poll. Kudos to Eddie for running a clean campaign, but it's time to bow out so his big money people can go full throttle for Ralph.

He just hasn't caught fire and it's getting late.

If these numbers sit here... I'm starting to wonder if Rispone should just bow out and we just try to win it with Abraham in the primary.

He's just not very good in the public forum, at least the times I have heard him speak. I could not care less about that but the perception to too many is unfortunately reality. Abraham is much better at speaking to the crowd. I don't think Rispone can do much to close the gap b/t himself and Abraham. Just don't go dirty against each other and JBE is DONE come November !

Something else to factor in;
quote:

He also faces an increasingly Republican electorate. Since Edwards was elected three years ago, there are 70,000 less registered Democrats, 95,000 more Republicans and 27,000 more Independents in the state.

At this point, that poll is no Bueno for JBE. Especially the low Trump number. It suggests there might be a bit of oversampling, which wont show up on election day for JBE.

signage is up and out.. by proxy for Ralph? Is Eddie going to mount a campaign that's going to put him in contention? Because these early numbers from a video or two on Facebook arent really setting the man up in my opinion. Politics is a 24/365 game in this state and he's gonna have to bring it

I was polled in this too. I responded JBE just to give him a bit of false hope and throw his campaign off a bit. I’m an a-hole because I always respond in favor of the candidate I’m against for this reason.

Abraham all the way, baby!!!

JBE and his merry band of trial lawyers are destroying the future of the states economy while Texas is experiencing an economic boom on an unprecedented scale in the oil/chemical sector.
