Via the failing NYT....
Kavanaugh Will Kill the Constitution

quote:

At a fundamental level, the attempt to jam Brett Kavanaugh onto the Supreme Court closely resembles the way Republicans passed a tax cut last year. Once again we see a rushed, nakedly partisan process, with G.O.P. leaders withholding much of the information that’s supposed to go into congressional deliberations. Once again the outcome is all too likely to rest on pure tribalism
Sure... the GOP is being partian.

quote:

After all, if Kavanaugh is confirmed, we will be trying to navigate a turbulent era in American politics with a Supreme Court in which two seats were effectively stolen. First Republicans refused even to give President Barack Obama’s nominee so much as a hearing; then they will have filled two positions with nominees chosen by a president who lost the popular vote and eked out an Electoral College win only with aid from a hostile foreign power.
"We won".

quote:

So who is Brett Kavanaugh? If he looks like a right-wing apparatchik and quacks like a right-wing apparatchik, he’s almost surely a right-wing apparatchik. Which brings us to the coming constitutional crises.
Nope. No partisanship going on here...

quote:

Beyond that, what will happen if we eventually get a Democratic Congress and president, who try to move forward with a center-left agenda? What I mean by that, by the way, are things like expanding health coverage and raising taxes on high incomes — things that aren’t radical, and in fact have broad popular support.

There’s every reason to believe that a court including Kavanaugh would strike down everything elected officials tried to do. Policy substance aside, this would destroy the court’s legitimacy, making its naked partisanship — based, again, on two stolen seats — clear to all. But it would probably happen anyway.

We'll never get our way without the SCOTUS to make the laws we like.

quote:

So let me make a last-minute appeal to Republican senators who care about America’s future, if there are any left: Don’t do this. A vote for Kavanaugh will be a vote to destroy the legitimacy of one of the last federal institutions standing.

I fully expect another piece by Krugman in a year or two praising Brett Kavanaugh, telling us how wonderful he is.

Hack.

"...eked out...?"

She got her fricking arse kicked, and we STILL haven't seen one scintilla of evidence that Trump and Putin partnered up.

Krugman is just pissed because his economic theories are being proven to be detrimental to the economy.

Krugman is totally the type that publicly writes an article or tweet to women he doesn’t know, apologizing for something that men he also doesn’t know “put them through all these years.”

“To ALL women,

I just want to say on behalf of ALL men that I’m ashamed.... ”

This retard was 110% for Obamacare and used his “economic” credentials to help advance the lie it would make insurance cheaper. Nothing more partisan or more of a hack job than that piece of shite legeslation.

Funny, If Dems force shite on pubs, or pubs on dems, it’s always 100% pubs fault when it’s not bipartisan.

Krugman, just lol...This is the guy that when something, anything fails, it’s because we didn’t throw enough money at it....and I do mean anything. Do not listen to that fraud, he’s the damn problem!

Krugman’s economics are so irrational and dangerous it is amazing he works for such a puplicaton. What is even nuttier is that he was taught this shite in school and many economic professors have the same view. Higher education, the media and politicians are all connected to each other and it is why we have such a mess and it is why Trump was put there to be a wrecking ball.

While I really don't like politics or its word games, there is ONE label that they got correct... "The Right"

Unfortunately, they were mistaken on the opposite's label. "The Wrong" is MUCH more accurate than "The Left"... unless you get into the philosophical "sinister" nature of anything that is left-sided.

Really, Leftists labels everything the Right does as "extreme." The truth is that the (true) Right does what is actually right (good). And that's only extreme because the Left is evil.

The (true) Right is actually centrist. It seeks to find the moral balance between the immoral extremes. Anarchy is evil, so is Tyranny.

Can people claim to be on the "Right," yet also be wrong? Of course! That doesn't mean the Right is extreme or wrong. It only means those individuals are misguided or lying.

Truth is truth. Truth is good. Morality is good. Honor is good. Freedom is good. Responsibility is good.

God is the ultimate good. God is good to the extreme. But God is also perfectly balanced. God is perfectly just, yet also perfectly merciful. God is jealous, yet also loving. God is most holy and majestic, yet also dwells with the lowliest of sinners and slaves.

Why do I lean toward the Right side of the scale? Because I see the Right as aligning with God's Truth and Goodness.

Just remember, Right and Wrong are not binary or equal... Right-wing and Left-wing. Right is narrow, Wrong is broad...

What does 2+2 equal?
4 is Right.
3 is Wrong. 5 is Wrong. Everything other than 4 is Wrong.

I'm proud to be part of the "Right." It means I'm following a just standard of truth.

The Constitution may not be perfect, but it's the closest Law we have to perfection. And claiming that someone who will interpret and follow the Constitution as written will actually destroy it... well, that is idiocy beyond fathoming.
