Talked to an older guy at work not to long ago. He is one of the most, happy up beat people I know.

However when it comes to news, he is completely out of the picture. He doesn't have cable or watch the news. Still has a flip phone, doesn't use the internet, and listens to music in the car. Doesn't read newspapers or any other news based reading.

He says he knows the world is deep, dark place and he doesn't need to pay attention to the news everyday to reaffirm that. Spends his time out of work with his family and friends, fishing, golfing, traveling and tinkering with cars.

So on one hand, I think he must be a genius. I could only imagine getting rid of all the bullshite that is in my head anout how f*cked up this world is.

On the other hand, I almost think he is a a-hole... as he only gets to enjoy all the luxeries of life because there are people out there fighting physically, mentally, and spiritually against the dark forces in the world while he gets to sit idly by.

If everyone had his ho-hum attitude we'd have already been lined up to the trains long ago.

It’s like Bruce Wayne’s parents before they decided to walk down a place called Crime Alley

I am honestly having a hard time with the struggle between my Christianity and my patriotism/nationalism. When we get down to the point I think we're at, they start to directly oppose each other.

While it’s fine to be happy, I think the goal of life to be a prepared and emotionally matured individual. If my child is sick, happy is not the right emotion. If someone breaks in my house, happy is the wrong emotion. But we live in a culture that tell us that there is something wrong with us if we are not happy.

We carry all kinds of emotions and each have a function. In life it’s impossible to be happy 24/7 regardless of how great your life.

Once you see the liberals for who they are, and the RINOS that they cuck, you can never unsee them.

I used to get caught up in politics. Then I needed a break from it and did like the guy you mentioned for a few years. When I started paying attention again, I had a fresh perspective that's worked well.

I no longer look for a community. While my views fall on one side of the aisle, I'm not interested in winner-takes-all partisanship. I agree with most every part of the political spectrum on some issue or another and that's okay.

If anyone ever wants a list of things of things I hate about Democrats, just ask. I have a longer hate list for Republicans, but that's not important. Parties and labels mean very little in the grand scheme of things.

I have the key to happiness. I’ve been waiting to share it with the less fortunate.

1. Avoid politics as much as possible
2. Read good, classic literature. Kafka, Nabokov, Bronte, Eliot, McCarthy, Steinbeck, Vonnegut, Ballard, Kesey, Bradbury etc. stimulate your mind and your soul through fiction
3. Golf as much as possible
4. Do not limit your own world view with religion
5. Live every moment with love in your heart for family and friends.

Isn't taking that view limiting your worldview?

Not as much as it would if I committed to one system of beliefs. Admitting to myself “I don’t know what happens after death, and that’s ok” is a lot less limiting to having faith in one belief system

I am too. But read about some of the lives of Saints or Champions of Christ.

Honestly his life isn’t too much different than mine. Well, in a way it is Only website I visit is here, I average normally 45 minutes a day online except during football season it’s around 1.5 hours. Except this, no social media, only watch football on tv, hunt, fish, hang out with kids. Mostly just post on OT to troll, or Saints Talk. I even still listen to radio in my truck or a cd I wanted to go back to a flip phone but wife got mad that I wouldn’t be able to send or receive picture text of kids or whatever

That can seem paradoxical, but admitting that life is one big mystery is less confining than being religious
