Yes, but the CDC is "Woke" and "Politically Correct" and THOSE are the most important things for a FedGov agency since about 15 years ago.

frick all that "core competency" shite. That shite is Racist.

I have family in the field who have said for years the CDC is full of incompetence and lays this at their feet. It’s very typically of what government agencies devolve into.

NASA even has consigned most of the execution of their work over to private companies. Private-public partnerships are the future and the CDC did everything they could to prevent that partnership from happening in infectious disease control.

They hit the nail on the head and probably joined me from Day 1 predicting that the CDC would be too incompetent to pro-actively respond of this Pandemic. The CDC is "Woke" and "Politically Correct" and, to them, THAT is most important.

I'm male, not black, and have been pretty clear about where I work.

But y'all aren't known for your reading comprehension.

Scott Gottlieb says NYC CV-19 ICU population is 40-50% <50y/o. That was really surprising to me. Then he qualified it with something to the effect of "at least that's what he's being told".

Are you guys seeing that kind of demographic?

Also stands in contrast with Cuomo's statement:
"Send young, healthy workers -- who ***have tested negative*** back into work. And keep all other workers home. Protecting both lives and livelihoods. We can do both and we must do both."

Clearly, we need more government. And more money for illegals, the post office, and to cut aircraft emissions.

We are relying on the CDC and the WHO and the Chinese version of the CDC for information. Of course there were missteps. That is like saying you will need to wipe your hole after you poop. It is just a given.

Thanks Obama

Make no mistake: The CDC failed Obama too during H1N1. But since it was Obama, it was ALL GOOD.

If Obama or Hillary were POTUS, there would be no lockdown. Hell, you would only know of a few COVID cases in the US.

Remember the hysteria when 60M people in the US got H1N1?

Exactly.

I haven't checked our numbers since this morning, but that's true for at least one of our hospitals.

Trump gets blame in an "Extreme Ownership" way of taking it for subordinate failure

1. Most Trump supporters on here would find even this attenuated level of blame abhorrent. Where does the buck stop again?

2. I think it’s fair to give him a little more blame because one of the major things he trumpeted in his campaign was his ability to radically transform bureaucracy. Now, three years in, and there was an issue in an executive branch agency’s bureaucracy and he is completely absolved?

Damn. A less stratified age risk would change the game. Any good news with med interventions?

That is probably true, just like with the flu, as the number of people under 50 is greater than 50.

The issue is if you are elderly and have one or more pre-existing conditions, there is a much greater chance of death.

It's actually run by a member of the president's cabinet.

We have a few trials in the works - so far nothing overwhelmingly great, but numbers are low and that could change either way.
