Former Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron, seen as a rising star in the Republican Party, announced Thursday he is seeking the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by former GOP leader Mitch McConnell.
Cameron, who unsuccessfully ran for governor in 2023, enters the Republican primary with high name ID and ability to mount a formidable statewide campaign, after becoming Kentucky’s first Black attorney general in 2019.

He is widely seen as the heir apparent to McConnell, the longest-serving Senate party leader in U.S. history, and launched his Senate bid within hours of his mentor announcing he would not seek reelection.
“Kentucky, it’s time for a new generation of leadership in the U.S. Senate,” Cameron proclaimed while announcing his bid on the social media platform X. “Let’s do this.”
He is expected to face a challenge for the Republican nomination from Rep. Andy Barr (R-KY) and businessman Nate Morris, though some view Cameron as the prohibitive favorite.

His connections to McConnell scares me.

Oh it's the black guy who acted questionable during the Breanna Taylor case. Thomas Massie, please.

Don’t those glasses and nose disguises come with a mustache too?

Isn't Cameron a McConnell acolyte?

Apparently, I don’t keep up with it. McConnell use to pretend he was conservative before his TDS went through the roof. I don’t like identity politics but I do think we need some black men to step up in the GOP world, especially in light of how Michigan and Georgia screwed over the last two candidates.
