Right now... the feds are looking at:

1) The Deputy CAO pay including potential double dipping

2) The mayor and a garbage contract

3) The mayor secretly recording phone conversations

Pound for Pound... Kenner outpunches NOLA with this stuff.

Update: The knives are out for Mayor Florist

quote:

Four Kenner City Councilmembers say they plan to call for the immediate resignation of Mayor Ben Zahn at the next city council meeting.

Councilmembers George Branigan, Kristi McKinney, Greg Carroll, and Brian Brennan added the measure to the supplemental agenda for Friday morning’s meeting.

quote:

Pitfield was placed on leave without pay yesterday and was fired by the Zahn Administration today.

Along with calling for Zahn’s resignation, the supplemental agenda also calls for a Vote of No Confidence in Mayor Zahn, Chief Administrative Officer Deborah Foshee, and Chief Compliance Officer Adam Campo. It also calls for Foshee and Campo to resign.

Statement from Kenner Mayor Ben Zahn: “This is simply political theater – nothing more. My administration did the right thing. After receiving an allegation that fraud was committed, we called for an investigation of the employee in question. There was no delay. We then called for the employee, who all of us – including council members – have worked closely with over time, to be terminated.”

So Mayor Florist... What did you know... and when did you know it?

And the police Chiefs of both parishes act like ‘ Gee we didn’t know these officers were double dipping’

Right- Isn’t that what Chiefs are supposed to do like manage the activities and work product of their officers.

NOLA has a felon Oliver Thomas convicted of bribery back on the city council. Felony status and federal indictment is an honor and badge in NOLA.

I don’t think anything will ever top the active DA being under ongoing federal indictment while discharging his duties to prosecute defendants.

The Louisiana Fourth Circuit Court of Appeal comprises the three horsemen of corrupt parishes in Louisiana: Orleans, St. Bernard, and Plaquemines.

St Tammany laughs at them both. Sheriff and top deputies guilty, coroner and # 2 guy guilty, Mandeville mayor guilty, Parish councilman guilty, District Attorney guilty, Abita Springs chief of police and deputies guilty. Assessor, School Board and parish prez have been shady going back a few years.

When you put it that way, St Tammany wins going away.

At least you wont get carjacked and run over at a gas pump left to die in St Tammany though. Corrupt politicians whose actions have direct effect on its citizens (Jason Williams) are worse than corrupt politicians who just steal money.

Let’s recount just the NOLA dirt I can remember as I post this:
1. City inspector claims visits to sites including the Hard Rock hotel and approves inspection documents for those sites. Vehicle GPS reveals the inspector never visited the sites on the claimed dates. Collapse results in deaths. Incompetent mayor leaves human remains there for 10 months.

2. SWB gets parking passes so they won’t be ticketed in the city. An investigation reveals that the passes are handed around to family and friends.

3. The FBI recently raided the SWB. I still haven’t heard about the basis for the raid.

4. The mayor and DA have been revealed to be in arrears on their taxes by large amounts.

5. NOPD officers stung in an investigation that revealed scamming around paid detail duty. No show jobs that they were paid for. Time charged for regular shift and paid detail hours that overlap. Officers who, on paper, worked 30 hours straight between regular shifts and paid detail.

6. Oliver Freaking Thomas

Don’t mistake facing consequences for corruption with corruption so deep, far and wide that there is no risk of ever suffering any consequence for corruption.

New Orleans is irreparable. There’s no fixing it. It is run entirely by idiots, who are also dishonest

People knew Latoya had broken the law (with her city credit card) and they still elected her Mayor. Twice!

That's a foundational level of corruption Kenner hasn't achieved yet.

No doubt like shrug your shoulders no big deal. Somebody else did it.
Hope they nail the scumbag to the wall. Then he gets out and will be re-elected into office.

All of these parishes elect corrupt politicians.

It's because no quality people want these jobs. They are for unskilled lowlifes who can't get ahead any other way. Nobody decent ran against Latoya last year, because why would any smart successful person want to spend four years of their life in City Hall? It looks bad. It smells bad. The pay sucks. Your would-be coworkers failed the Leap test.

You forgot about the St. Slammany school board member who is a straight up petty shoplifter.
