They are going a step further and having agencies investigate it.
The people forcing them to discuss it is the media that pretty much only asks questions about it despite Waltz taking the blame and the WH saying a further investigation is taking place.

I get the whole sensationalism headlines thing, but sheesh. The only person in this Administration that I have seen metaphorically nuking everyone who confronts him, is our super-patriot Tom Homan. He's got fire and passion and shoots .50 caliber facts regularly. If he were President, I truly believe that 30% of US citizens would self immolate, and another few million would perish from emotional meltdown.
And the nation would be better for it

WHy not just say, "Hey, BugAC, i didn't know that the administration was being transparent because i'm programmed to always hate anything from this admin. Therefore, my current tactic is to divert and only focus on Leavitt and ignore everything else around me. I do this because my entire facade on this board is pretending i'm smarter than everyone, and i don't understand that admitting fault is a sign of character because i don't have any character."
