Never heard it...probably Rap, am I right? And since I've never listened to one rap piece of crap that can't be clasified as music, screw it.

If I'm ever at an event where they announce the Black National Anthem is to be played, I will remain seated and play with my phone to occupy myself while the shite show goes on.
I am a U.S. Army veteran and I took an oath to the United States of America, where we have one, that's ONE, National Anthem. It's not a white anthem, it's for all U.S. citizens.

I don’t care if they play that song but stop calling it a black national anthem. That title is what pisses people off. The song itself doesn’t seem to be problematic.

The lyrics and music seem kinda Eurocentric.

There is no such thing as a black national anthem so why would you stand for any song that isn't the anthem?

Or somewhere between harmless and treason like most sane people.

It’s purposely divisive.

Glad you see that it’s not a national anthem of any nation.

You're right...my bad, dude! I am so used to capitalizing the National Anthem it just came natural.
But you are 100% correct. I will be more focused in the future when referring to the black national anthem.

So, one is a "sheep" if he agrees with the style books that categorize ethnic groups as proper nouns (e.g. White, Black, Hispanic, Native American, etc)?

You sound like a bit of a snowflake.

I am genuinely curious. Please explain the reason that you feel ethnic groups should NOT be treated as proper nouns.

Pretty much. Some of us can think for ourselves. At least it signals your virtue to others.

For how long have they done that? Does it get capitalized when referring to just the ethnic group or even as an adjective for a single individual?

They style books are still pretty "split" on it. Some still say to capitalize Black, but not White. I think that is nonsense. The TREND is toward treating BOTH as proper nouns, but I think it is still a slight minority.
