I heard she stood for the gray tran eskimo and big foot national anthem.

quote:

Lift every voice and sing,
’Til earth and heaven ring,
Ring with the harmonies of Liberty;
Let our rejoicing rise
High as the listening skies,
Let it resound loud as the rolling sea.
Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us,
Sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us;
Facing the rising sun of our new day begun,
Let us march on ’til victory is won.

Stony the road we trod,
Bitter the chastening rod,
Felt in the days when hope unborn had died;
Yet with a steady beat,
Have not our weary feet
Come to the place for which our fathers sighed.
We have come, over a way that with tears has been watered,
We have come, treading our path through the blood of the slaughtered,
Out from the gloomy past,
’Til now we stand at last
Where the white gleam of our bright star is cast.

God of our weary years,
God of our silent tears,
Thou who has brought us thus far on the way;
Thou who has by Thy might
Led us into the light,
Keep us forever in the path, we pray.
Lest our feet, stray from the places, our God, where we met Thee,
Lest our hearts, drunk with the wine of the world, we forget Thee;
Shadowed beneath Thy hand,
May we forever stand,
True to our God,
True to our native land

Yep, never want to hear a word from them again regarding segregation or white flight.

They've embraced segregation after pretending to condemn it for decades. I guess black folks are getting too close to their gated communities.

I can’t figure out why Chicken hasn’t implemented an ignore feature yet.

This. It's billed as the black national anthem. Why should nonblacks care?

I don't even stand for the Honkey national anthem.

I think its "I Love This Bar"

Because, this time it's their idea.

I don't think that anyone should feel obligated to stand and be silent while it plays, if that is what you mean.

As to the broader question, it is a church hymn written about 120 years ago, and it was adopted as an "anthem" of the fight for equal rights about 100 years ago. Since I DO agree that Blacks DID face significant oppression at the time, I respect the work that was done under the auspices of the song.

I posted the lyrics above. Read them. They are quite inspiring.

As is her right. People can also remain seated during the National Anthem. Freedom is a double edged sword.

No it isn't. The Dems started this and the blacks that are for it are just followers. There are a few black posters here that aren't brainwashed and will tell you they too think this crap is stupid. Tbird is one of them.

Few and far between.

Good for them.

It's on them to stop it, yes?

What can they do besides educate friends and family?

Race relations get progressively worse every year and it's being done on purpose.

While I would respect her decision not to stand, this is correct. Nothing was happening on the field at the time.

It was written as a hymn, for church. It was later adopted as the song of a nascent civil rights movement.

I do not see it as accurate to call it a "national anthem" ... more accurate to say "civil rights anthem." I see the "Black National Anthem" term as a harmless bit of hyperbole. Doubtless, others here see it as some form of "treason."
