This is about saving down ballot races in swing districts . The likeliest reason in echoing trumps stance on no taxes on tips is to break as many single issue voters back to the democrat ticket in November in states like Nevada and inner cities.
Internal polling must be bad real bad to echo another candidates stance on something like this.

Trump is low on events and can’t garner attention at the moment
I think the polls are cooked to fabricate momentum, but this is going according to their plan. She’s doing at least as well as they could have hoped, thanks to all of that.

You’re in denial. She has an insane amount of momentum and she’s already beginning to flip flop and people may be buying it. Betting odds are in her favor. Polling in Georgia and Pennsylvania, however, is in Trump’s favor outside of NYT/Sienna.
If Trump wins both of those he wins the election. I actually think just Pennsylvania would seal it but I’m not positive on that.

They can’t replace her, just as they could not replace Biden. The reason Biden is not on the ticket is because he voluntarily resigned. Now, he did so because the funders cut him off and he had no path to victory, but it was still his decision.
Today, Kamala has already won the nomination. No one can take that from her. This is the only chance she will ever get to be President, and she will not give that up. Even if she appears to be a sure loser, she can still win if Trump dies a week before the election, and she will never get better odds than she has today.

The debate will be pretty telling. Trump will be Trump, but a lot of people didn’t see Kamala against Pence in 2020. Her response to Pence about packing the court, those kinds of things will hold her up. She is bad at BS-ing and speaking extemporaneously.
