It's funny, how much industry and money California makes with some of the smartest nerds in the world.
And they elect total morons.
It just shows you how the smart people are the minority in California...
California pulic education system is a total disaster. Drop out rate is crazy. 30% Latinos, 35% Black, 8% White.
And the only reason those numbers decreased was because Cali made everything really easy in school. Lowered test score expectations and curriculum from the 80's and 90's to get drop-out rates down to 20%.
It's all a numbers game for funding. Total bullshite.
And they elect total morons.

Unfortunately Peter Singer, "bioethics professor" at Princeton has already moved beyond abortion to endorse the infanticide you mention in your post.
