Sotomayor at work after health scare - POLITICO
quote:
Paramedics were called to the Washington home of Justice Sonia Sotomayor Friday morning, but a Supreme Court spokeswoman said the justice was not hospitalized and went to work Friday after being treated for low blood sugar.
"She experienced symptoms of low blood sugar at her home this morning. She was treated by emergency medical services and is doing fine," court spokeswoman Kathy Arberg told POLITICO. "She's at work and following her usual schedule and will be participating in all planned activities over the weekend."
The episode caused concern to some neighbors of the 63-year-old justice, who lives in an apartment near Washington's Shaw and Columbia Heights neighborhoods.
Sotomayor was diagnosed as a child with Type 1 diabetes, which she now controls through a combination of synthetic insulin injections, glucose tablets and regular checks of her blood sugar.
When she was nominated to the high court by President Barack Obama, a doctor's statement said she practices so-called tight control of her blood sugar. The method can prolong the lives of those with diabetes and prevent serious complications, but risks low blood sugar levels.
"I'm super vigilant when I'm in court," she said in a 2013 interview with Diabetes Forecast magazine. "My most obvious sign, which I can't see, is paleness. If I start feeling any sort of lightness coming on, I immediately check."

Maybe she will take a turn for the worse and we will all be better off. She is a policy maker. Needs to go and I don’t care how.

Of the two females Obama nominated, Sotomayor and Kagan...one is not a complete leftist-she can go ever so slightly moderate.. I forget which is which.

She's not a Justice. She's a political hack.

This is why the other side gets to spout their nonsense. Pulling for the demise of a liberal just because they are liberal, is as bad as all the clown school crap they have been up to in the last year.

As the parent of a Type 1 Diabetic this is pretty normal and really has no lasting affects. I can't stand her but the fact she has been successful with Type 1 is something I can't help but admire, it's a disease that never lets up and you have to battle 24/7.

While I disagree with her politics and her general jurisprudence, Kagan is very intelligent and supports her positions with logical reasoning.
Sotomayor is very different.

For her health sake and to be able to enjoy for family for her remaining years, she should retire immediately from the SCOTUS.

Yep! Word for word.

I'm happy she's okay (something I feel like I should type even if I don't mean it), but man - the melt would have been otherworldly if Trump got to replace Sotomayor The left would literally put RBG in a bubble and roll her into court and back home

I couldn't take the political theatrics right now if another Supreme Court justice resigns or dies in office while Trump is President.

it looks like she's in poor health and needs to be taken off the court. Get that gupta guy to look into this.

I agree. She doesn't seem like she exercises much..she's kinda fat. Did anyone measure her waist? Do you think she would be willing to get on a scale, on camera? Seems reasonable to me.
