Or in this case the knife. If they're a good shot they should be able to neutralize the suspect without killing them.

Go to a gun range. Get a full body target.
Aim for the leg and take 6 shots.
Now aim for center mass and take 6 shots.

Apparently, you watch too many movies. Real life doesn't equal movies. I see a knife, my firearm is squared up on their chest. Nobody shoots a knife out of someone's hand, nor do they make a "wing shot" to disarm them.

When you pull your firearm and train it on a live target, your intent and goal is to kill...period. Anything less, you should not draw your weapon.

If an officer allows a knife-weilding suspect within 20 feet of him, he fricked up. Do you have any idea how fast a person can cover 6.66 yards? Further, being shot center mass with a handgun doesn't just stop someone in their tracks like on TV. In fact, 84% of all people shot with handguns survive. It is clear that you are completely ignorant of weapons, ballistics, and law enforcement in general and should simply STFU before making an even bigger arse of yourself.
