It does seem to be singular.

The vast majority are apparently smart enough to realize when they need to sit one out.

I have said repeatedly that I FAVOR the court stepping in when there is a disagreement between two parents
I didn't say jack shite about the parents here.

It's child abuse.

The courts should stop child abuse. Hell. I don't care if the parents AGREE on committing the child abuse.

Are leftist actually defending castrating a 7 year old child?

No

Although we are getting a very strange roundabout justification for why the legal system coming to this decision is OK.

ETA: a downvote for accuracy. Politards gonna politard.

A parent should have the right to make the decision as to whether their child is just fine with crooked teeth or whether the parent will put the child in braces.

It's amazing that you think this is the same as deciding if their child should undergo hormone therapy.

And apparently completely stupid for thinking getting braces isn't the same as insane hormone therapy.

Uhm, we already have this; we're just discussing where to draw the line. You want it drawn at clitorectomies,
Exactly

Hank already folded on that one and let's be blunt here. There's ONLY one reason he did.

Because clitorectormies are considered bad by the left and are a "women's issue"

In EVERY other way, chemically castrating a 7 year old ex EXPONENTIALLY worse.

Again, it’s classic two-dimensional thinking.

But this is far beyond "bad decision" territory that it's not even funny. It's not just a "bad decision." Surely you can agree to that. And I certainly don't think it's being hyperbolic to call it more than a bad decision. I mean, C'mon, Hank. I really thought you were smarter than this.
find some language which lies somewhere between “bad decision“ and “blatant child abuse,“ and I may well agree to it.

The majority on this thread see child abuse. I simply do not.

I see a woman who probably genuinely believes that she is making the right decision for her child. I disagree with her, but I am not going to call her a child abuser for holding a view different than my own.

Bruh, they got a clinical diagnosis from Dallas Rainbow Counseling.

Rainbow.

Honk honk.

I just wanted to repeat that

Because bottom line is simple

We already task the state with stopping child abuse. So, the whole "state involvement" thing is a ship that has sailed and for good reason.

If the courts are too inept to determine that chemically castrating a 7 year old is child abuse, then you let teh courts know legislatively that it is.

And, even on THAT front, this wouldn't exactly be earth shattering precedent. We define, in LEGAL TERMS, what is and isn't a crime for the courts all the time.

In fact, there are literally thousands upon thousands of laws doing just this.

Judge doesn't think the speed limit should be 65? Oh well. It is.

Good.

We already knew the liberal position on the subject.

Hence. I'm find with it. Let's go public.

The left can take the position that chemical castration is just a parental decision.......the right can go the other way...........no more hiding. ALL Democrats need to go ahead and go public on it.

I'm fine with that politically.

let the arse kicking commence

Then perhaps SHE needs to be evaluated.

Because by every norm we hold as a society, this is utterly insane.

go target shooting this weekend. There are plenty of people in the population who think that’s a bad idea.

Spend all day Saturday gorging on ice cream and hot dogs. There are plenty of people who think that’s a bad idea as well.

Hell, go parachuting. I would not be surprised if there are millions of people who think that it would be a bad idea to do that with a small child. But you are a parent. You get to make that decision. Not the state.

Cool

I asked earlier. Perhaps you missed it

Is there anything that I could groom my 4-7 year old to believe is a great idea that you WOULD consider child abuse?

If so, explain how it would be different. Oh. And be careful. "While scant", there is literature out there supporting about any damned thing you can think of.

Is what this mother is perpetrating upon her child abuse? Or not?
Witness credibility is important in these cases. I was not present to see the witnesses or hear the testimony, so I cannot judge credibility.

If I had been able to do so, my opinion might be different.

But from what I have seen in the media, my answer would be no.

I think this was probably just a woman who thinks she is doing the right thing for her child, despite the fact that I disagree with her.
