Julie Kelly has been covering all of the J6 trials. She said the clip of DJTrump supposedly calling the proud Boys to standby will assist Jack Smith to charge Trump with Seditious Conspiracy; and or other charges.
I think the Trump video clip (if shown in full context especially) Is Trump meaning to say stand-down as he was asked to disavow them and or white supremacists.

You cannot imprison a former president or someone running for president, there are laws against it for good reason.

That wouldn't stop him from running. Constitutional requirements for running for the presidency are quite simple and clear.

I'm not sure that this is actually true. They just aren't going to, and even being in prison wouldn't stop him from running.

We should honestly be rooting for things like this to happen and for the otherside to further escalate things. Hard,in your face tyranny and dictatorships never last long, it's the soft, invisible, cheerful tyrannys that you really need to watch out for.

They would be asking for civil war if this happens.

Arresting opponents to keep them from running for office is what the communists do in Nicaragua. Evidently the commies here want to do the same thing.

You're right, there are no explicit law that has ever been ruled on, because no one has tried.
The dangers of stopping people from running by charging them, arresting them, etc and becoming a socialist/fascist state is just over the horizon.

I’m old enough to remember that Donald Trump ran his last campaign leading chants about locking up his opponent and most here encouraged and voted for that.
