Sounds like your teachers were groomers before it was cool.

Afraid not pal. You're applying a solution in a controlled environment to one with an unlimited amount of variables.

And you are applying an unlimited number of variables to school children, and calling it a solution.

because they don't allow cock suxcking primers for 10 year olds?

quaint that you believe education has anything to do with what's in the public library

They are most likely ranked that low due to the flood of immigrants

Rape and incest in the Bible also. But farting snowmen? Absolutely unacceptable.

Again, this is not a book ban.

Banning books in schools is one thing but banning them in public libraries is a slippery slope that Republicans shouldn't go down.

They aren’t banned in public libraries. This local library is making a local decision. However stupid that decision is, they are free to make it. And no Federal judge has any real say in that decision. Even if he pretends he does.

It’s a dumb decision to ban fart books from the library. It’s also a rural county in Texas of 22,000 people. Them taking a fart book out of the library is neither the salvation nor the end of civilization.

There’s simply no reason for the courts to be involved at all.

Why does anyone care in either direction? Public libraries are obsolete. I support Llano closing down the libraries from a fiscal perspective...sell the buildings/real estate, reduce city/county G&A and misspend the money elsewhere.

That's not the question being discussed. The real question is do you believe that banning books will be used against you in the future. That is the premise I referenced and what we've been talking about the whole time. Not some morality tangent you keep trying to go off on.

Go ask those bitching librarians if they’ll stock Candace Owen’s book. Or Jordan Peterson.

The library isn’t under obligation to stock every book ever printed. And they don’t try to. We’re just quibbling over decisions that are made every day and pretending like they’re not decisions that are made every day.

It's an exclave of california at this point with all the transplants that have made it their home.

Austin isn't Texas anymore.

Not a fan of book banning at a public library…a school library is different.

At what point does your belief begin to have limits?
= what about actual pornography - want kids looking at that stuff as part of school assignments?
= what about instruction manuals on joys of and how to perform cannibalism?
= let your imagination run wild - anything you can think of should NOT be made available for FREE for distribution to children???

NOW - I am not suggesting that we should outlaw private ownership and viewing and discussing anything they want - BUT - the PUBLIC should not be taxed to provide it for free and without recourse to limiting the the exposure - especially to children.

public libraries are tax-funded.

Now, if you want to set up 'research' sections where some literature is only available on a 'need-to-know' basis, which can be read in a secure setting = maybe.

but a 'public library' should have to meet some decency norms - just like public bathrooms.

AND some 'health' restrictions should apply to anything offered from public consumption whether it be hamburgers or literature.

Look, I may not like the subject matter of some of these books (the farting snowman does sound intriguing, though), but I don't go for book bans. It's just too Joseph Goebbels for my liking.

Agree...unless they are aimed at children.

Looks like the farting snowman was "ban," because it is a wet fart.
