What a fricking circus. All to thwart democracy and the will of the people.
Landry created a whole new position and appointed someone to fill it without an election just to spite the overwhelming majority of voters who elected Duncan. He’s so petty.

i admittedly have not been following this but i thought the issue was whether an office created by the legislature could be abolished by the legislature notwithstanding election to that abolished office.

Appeals court halts ruling that allowed Calvin Duncan to take office
Sounds like this is headed to the Louisiana Supreme Court (where it belongs).

The federal court ruled that our state constitution stipulates there must be election held for the new office created. The other court said the state Supreme Court should decide.
I’m so disgusted with Temu Trump & his little AG pet. It took the DOJ YEARS to build a case against Cantrell who was so brazen with her bullshite but this short bus squad thinks they have enough evidence after investigating for less than a year to convict Hutson and her CFO (whose first order of business was uncovering a grants manager embezzling federal grant money). What a colossal waste of taxpayer money on all these meaningless dog and pony shows. If being a shitty elected official is a criminal offense, Landry should have been charged after any of his failed attempts at “leadership.”

Because a state law abolishing an office created by state law should be reviewed by the state Supreme Court, not a federal court.

One might argue that the state legislature shouldn’t pass laws that violate the state constitution either but that seems to be A-OK

The US 5th circuit of appeal ruled this should be moved from federal court to Louisiana court system.
Original stay was a federal court

How can you say this with a straight face knowing what has happened the last 10 years?

The State legislature passing a law that violates the State constitution sounds like a question for the State Supreme Court,

And Orleans Parish elections for local officials are local matters, not state matters you miserable troll.
I would bet everything I own that you weigh at least 100 lbs more than me despite being at least 3 inches shorter than me, too.
