This is what's wrong with society. If the punishment isn't severe then there isn't a deterrent. I'm sure the victim that had the gun against his head doesn't agree with you.

It's 25 years but how long to serve before release?

In Mississippi, that would be a 50% crime.

In South Carolina non-violent is 50% and violent is 85%. Armed robbery is considered violent here so he would do 21.75 years unless he was also ruled ineligible for parole so he would do all 25

Throw the family’s asses in jail too for contempt of court.

He could very easily kill someone or get killed in prison too. Regardless, that is where he deserves to be. Not our walking free in what is supposed to be a civilized society.

Teach them responsibility when they are young....this is the main problem.

Thugs with 47 arrests still walking the streets! It cant happen.

that family had been as outraged when their thug was running around doing hood shite...

If i robbed someone at gunpoint, my family would disown me and tell the judge to do their worst.

And thats the difference between thugs and non-thugs - family who gives a shite.

Harsh for armed robbery? I say he should get death. But that’s unconstitutional so life then.

They wouldn’t like me as a judge. I would sentence every criminal to the max.

He would have robbed, assaulted, carjacked, and possibly murdered scores of people. He belongs in prison.

His family’s reaction explains how he ended up like he did.

We know that severe punishments do not provide any kind of effective deterrent. That's a well studied phenomenon.

Certainty of being caught does. But severity of punishment does not.
