He was trying to sue the group they "belonged to", part of antifa or something. Tough to prove they were the cause of him being beaten.

Some on the board, myself included, wondered why he was not suing the individuals, guess he was.

I am curious why he did not sue all of them in one lawsuit. My guess is that the local joint/several liability laws played a role.

The trial he lost was against those who doxxed him and his location that allowed these 3 to come and assault him

These are the ones who actually attacked him

Causation??? IF not for A: The doxxing then B: Assault would never have happened. Therefore the other defendants have to be guilty of A as well. Right??

They've simply just found a "loophole" that casts a gray area on what constitutes a "weapon". This tactic has been going on in Seattle and Portland for quite a few years.
It would seem their knowledge of its effects and their intent when they fling them is clear. They mean to do significant harm. Period.

My understanding is that one group doxxed which permitted the battery to be carried out by the second group.
While chronologically related, they were actually separate legal issues because no connecting link was proven to join the two groups into one conspiratorial entity.
Am I confused?

Did you read the link?

It comes down to the difference between proximate cause and cause-in-fact.

I infer that you are suggesting that the intentional torts against Ngo (by non-parties) were as foreseeable to the blogger defendants as an auto accident was to a trucking company that forced its (craptastic) driver to hit the freeways in an ice storm. Correct?

Honestly, I am not sure that I agree with the jury in that case as to EITHER the company OR the driver (no matter how poorly he had been scoring in his training). As I recall, the plaintiffs' vehicle was traveling the OTHER direction, driving too fast, spun out, hit ANOTHER vehicle, then crossed the median and hit the defendants' vehicle. I have trouble seeing much liability there, but I wasn't present at court and didn't see everything that the jury saw.

Out of curiosity Hank, what type of law do you practice?

They are paid protestors. They’ll be flown out to the next fake uprising and cashing checks from Soros organizations.

I would argue that foreseeability (Palsgraf) is much greater for doxxing resulting in people going to the address and causing harm than a truck going down the road and having a car fly through the median from the opposite direction somehow being the trucks fault.
