Putin would react to any U.S. attempt to put nuclear missiles in Ukraine about the same way JFK reacted to the Soviet attempt to put nuclear missiles in Cuba.
No he wouldn't
This was the treaty he broke. The previous status quo now applies.

The pie in the face would the first that Putin should be afraid of. Then the water balloon, and maybe the white bean shot through a straw. If all that fails a trip to the golf course would be a stress relieving option.

Kerry should threaten to throw one of his Purple Hearts at Putin.

Now Angela Merkel is threatening Putin. This should worry all of us because Germany usually doesn't get involved in small, regional wars. The real reason they opposed W's Iraq war is because it wasn't grand enough.

I found this pic of it from 1975. My high school referred to them as the deadline.

Or what? Are we going to whine and cry and holler at the UN?

Kerry's going to look to Putin to help us out of the situation like he did in Syria.

Begin by entering into negotiations with Ukraine about returning nuclear weapons they gave away for autonomy in the 1990's. Since this treaty was broken by Russia a return the previous situation should now legally occur.
Now, you cut negotiations off with Russia, begin negotiating with Ukraine on return of nukes and renter plans for building missile defense shield in Poland.
So, you want to give nuclear-armed intercontinental ballistic missiles to a nation whose military and political power structure is so obfuscated that there is debate about whether the ouster of the previously fraudulently-elected President is tantamount to a coup de'tat?

Forget "red line" begin mobilizing a response. There is only one way to deal with a bully and that's to punch back. Peace through strength. Economic sanctions will be mild because Europe is terrified about natural gas from Russia.
A nuclear Ukraine that is EU friendly would scare the shite out of Russia, plus a return to our plans with missile shields in Poland. Begin bringing Ukraine into NATO and see how bad Putin wants to hold on to Crimea.
See my above question.

Here's how I see it. During the Cold War, every President deferred to Russia's de facto Monroe doctrine in the Eastern hemisphere, in return for them respecting ours in the Western hemisphere. Some time between the collapse of the Soviet Union and 9/11, it seems that a presumption began to take root in Washington that America's Monroe doctrine had expanded to encompass the entire globe. Perhaps the fact that W's Iraq war went unchecked despite intense world-wide opposition contributed to this mindset. What I think is happening now is that Putin is letting the U.S. know that the old rules still apply, and the neocons and American nationalists are having a hard time accepting it.
You've already been shown by others to be a bone-headed poster for the above statement--but really? A "de facto Russian Monroe doctrine"? They had a name for it, and they called it the Warsaw Pact, and it didn't have anything to do with hemispheric sphere of influence so its counterpart for sphere of influence was NATO, not Monroe.
NATO effectively replaced by expansion the Monroe Doctrine--our interests included up to the western border of the Soviet Bloc, and theirs up to that interface as well. With the fall of that alliance in 1991 and the establishment of free societies in Eastern Europe, the EU is now the central body determining sphere of influence, with NATO as their enforcement wing. This is especially true in a world where numerous soviet republics have joined NATO and/or the EU.

When you start out your post with an ad hominem personal attack rather address the point being made, you don't even warrant a serious response. Are you still in junior high school?

Nope. Sorry me calling you "bone-headed" hurt your feelings so badly. Good luck surviving this world with tissue-thin skin.
Then again, I'm pretty sure you're just using the "bone-headed" remark as an excuse to not retort because you can't hold your ground against the half dozen people, myself included, that pointed out that you have no idea what you're talking about.
