What is Kerry gonna do? Sign Putin's e-mail address up for spam mail?

Obama and Kerry have absolutely zero clue how to interact internationally.

They need to just shut the frick up and act, or simply shut the frick up.

Here's how I see it. During the Cold War, every President deferred to Russia's de facto Monroe doctrine in the Eastern hemisphere, in return for them respecting ours in the Western hemisphere. Some time between the collapse of the Soviet Union and 9/11, it seems that a presumption began to take root in Washington that America's Monroe doctrine had expanded to encompass the entire globe. Perhaps the fact that W's Iraq war went unchecked despite intense world-wide opposition contributed to this mindset. What I think is happening now is that Putin is letting the U.S. know that the old rules still apply, and the neocons and American nationalists are having a hard time accepting it.

EDIT: I think the threatening Putin publicly makes it more likely that he will dig in, and cause the Russian people to rally behind him. If there is any chance that he might reverse course, he had to be presented with some type of offer that allowed him to save face. Americans seem to have a hard time understanding that other countries are just as nationalistic as we are.

Could this be leading to the War of Gog and Magog?

Here is where you lose me. Lots of dems I have spoken with want us to act and our current administration has drawn "lines in the sand". Are they neocons?

It actually isn't interesting at all because we all know how it is going to play out.

Nothing will happen.

This will play out like all of this administration's previous international efforts.

1. Obama draws line in sand
2. Russia crosses it
3. Obama draws another line in sand
4. Russia crosses it
5. Obama does nothing

I, personally, want Obama and Kerry to just shut their yappers.

Going to be interesting to see how this plays out. Just how dependent is Europe on Russian natural gas? CNN Money puts it in perspective: LINK
That is a very interesting article. It really is an extremely complicated situation. I bet Putin is just laughing at Kerry and Obama's deadlines.

Kerry: "Mr Putin, when y'all gonna leave Crimea?"

Vlad: "Oh, Sunday night. We've accomplished our military objective."

Kerry: "Ok. Hey, Media, c'mere...."

Obama is a neocon lite, and the Democratic party is almost as infested with neocons as the Republicans. Also, don't forget that both Kerry and Hillary voted for the Iraq war.

Alright, cool. Just I seem to always associate "neocon" with "Republican"- perhaps I have been indoctrinated

So, if the Democratic Party is infested with neocons, why are they called neocons?

What I'm asking is, who was the first neocon in order to have all warmongers labeled as such?

I'm genuinely curious.

I don't know what the right answer is for Ukraine. I just wish they would quit making empty threats.

Pretty sure the US was pretty involved globally through the entire period you reference.

The graying bear is getting a make-over. Russia's military is launching its biggest rearmament effort since Soviet times, including a $650 billion program to procure 1,000 new helicopters, 600 combat planes, 100 warships, and 8 nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarines...
