I'm not a fan of Joel Osteen but I'm sick of people attacking them when we have bigger crooks in D.C. Joel Osteen doesn't force me to pay him. The government does.
this is true ... i've lived in houston for quite some time, and have rarely heard any good things about him or his 'church', but it's all voluntary ...

What exactly is he selling but not delivering on? Not rhetorical. I don't know anything about his church or how he solicits donations.

I'm not saying they should be locked up. As far as I know, they aren't doing anything against the law.
They are a bunch of shysters, though. The part I deplore is that they're using the Word of God to run their con.

Dude have you gone soft in the head this evening...it's a broader commentary and not an accusation of an actual, statutory criminal fraud. They're all frauds.

your faith will bring you rewards ... he may not explicitly say "material rewards", but that's essentially what he's selling, imo ... "listen to me, heed my word, have faith that god will deliver unto you all that you ask for and deserve" ...

Well, they are ensuring that a lot of Osteen's will never suffer. That's multi-generational wealth they're piling up.

Just maybe you are not paying attention or maybe drawn to people that only have a negative opinion of churches and christians?
Feed the Children
This week... I guess ALL of these events don't really cost anything... nor do they help people within the community???
Fact is, you don't really know what this church is doing. NOR do you care. You just see an opportunity to attack christians.
Feeding the homeless isn't a good thing... and it's FREE to do....

I have asked you once to back up what you are saying by the Word of God! You have not.
Osteen does not collect a salary from Lake wood. He has made his millions via books that he writes.
His church gives out thousands of classes per year for FREE.
His church feeds the hungry and homeless. etc etc etc..
Please show the scriptures that state he should not be wealthy. OR show the scriptures where NOT taking a salary from the church he pastors is a sin!

Yeah it's a multimillion dollar biz that participates in some food drives and feeding some homeless folks and sponsoring some recruiting missions while at the same time enriching the shareholding family. Just like Jesus!
