Yes it is. Pastor's should live a life of humility and service. Not be worth $40mil. The mega pastor's are disgusting.

Take a note from the Pope.

How do you know this? Does the Osteen family take money from the church? Churches are family wealth machines?

It was a rhetorical question zippy.

What a terrible link to support your case. Who cares if he makes money from his fraudulent sermons or books that his congregants buy. And who owns his house and pays his taxes??? And $40MM net wealth.

Tell the truth, you're an Oral Roberts or Liberty U grad with a fledgling ministry right?

Thanks for the link that supported everyone's point about the scheister. His family biz (pvt shareholders all) has provided untold family wealth...and a free house with prop taxes paid (I guess technically that's not taking a salary). And I guess if he took an ownership distribution or his wife or his wife's LLC that isn't a salary either. Are you one of his gape mouthed congregants?

How many books did he sell before he became the pastor of that church? Bin guessing -0-.

You can't just say that he makes money from the sale of books. That's no different from a ministry selling tapes of their sermons, etc.

And, it's not just Joel Osteen. It's the whole family.

If people can't see where that's wrong, I can't help them. They are supposed to be good stewards of the money that comes into the ministry. Clearly, it's all about them, ALL OF THEM, getting filthy rich.

I also notice that nobody commented about Joel Osteen's comments on the Larry King Show a few years ago. Any so-called Christian minister who is afraid to asert that belief in Jesus is the only way to Heaven is clearly a fraud. That's the core belief of Christianity.

Darkhorse,

Should a pastor not live a life of humility and service? Is $40MM net worth a life of humility and service?

You linked his website...calling them is just as useless. Unless you have access to their books you just have to believe what they say. And your just hanging your stupidity on "JO not taking a salary" based on his word and have completely ignored his family, his house, his prop taxes and the fact that his books are part of his ministry....who gives a frick if he shysters money out of people through the church finances or books???

Not complaining about the church having money. But why was it in cash?

Thats pretty cool. You can't but relief supplies with a credit card?

The money isn't weird having $600k in cash is weird.
I am not saying it is even dirty. Just odd.

Why, because it goes AGAINST what you THOUGHT. Again. Ignorance.

The most comical statement you have made! 43,000 people are able to put you at #1 on NY Times best seller list. I see...... LOL!

13 million divided by 43,000 =s about what 300 dollars per book. That was just the advance on A book. 55 million divided by 43K is 1,280 dollar per copy purchased by the members. DEDICATION I TELL YOU!

He does.

55 million off of one book. Care to know how many books and what they generated?

Not at all. You just choose to be ignorant. Look it up. The issue is you want to hate the dirty christians. How dare they give to the poor. How dare they feed the hungry. How dare they give out free classes weekly to the community to help them!

DANG IT!!! THAT'S OBAMA'S JOB!!! NOW LET'S TAKE THEIR MONEY SO OBAMA CAN DO WHAT THEY ARE ALREADY DOING!

LOL!!! You are too funny cwill!

Who owns his house:

quote:

Joel Osteen and his wife live in a 17,000 square foot mansion made of stone located on 1.86-acres in the Tall Timbers subdivision of River Oaks, Texas. The home is owned by Covenant Trust who will pay $260,000 in property taxes on the home valued at $10.5 million. The home contains six bedrooms each with its own bathroom. Also on the property are a one-bedroom guesthouse and a pool house.

Joel Osteen is a phony, and that's why I said what I did. I'm a Christian who grew up in the Bible Belt. Imo, there's nothing worse than a person like Osteen, Benny Hinn, etc, who use the Gospel to become super rich.

I agree with you, Karla. Good post.

My parents are Christians and they really hate that bastard and how he takes advantage of people's beliefs to make money.

LOL!! No. It shows what even oprah (your hero) acknowledged.

What's sad is that due to your hate for Christians and churches you can't even open your eyes to see what they are doing in the community. You simply want to hate. The reason? Maybe it's because you are afraid of the truth?

Yep and all the MILLIONS AND MILLIONS it takes is buying his books over and over and over to keep him in the top! LOL!

Everyone knows through your many posts that you're the one who has chosen a life of ignorance. You never address things that clearly crash your argument and are dishonest in other respects.

And I don't see how Obama relates to this. I think charity should be voluntary and no one should be getting rich off being the middleman.
