He is lying, but it was a lie he wanted to use…. Meh, he’ll probably still use the lie

It needs to be reformed. Push back retirement age and / or means test.

That’s not why you get downvoted.

Getting downvoted because of the fricking waste and those of us who are responsible not ever getting the benefit back out or a lessened benefit than what we could have done on our own.

How about shut OFF SS and cut everyone a check (who has put money INTO the system). Get rid of SS after it’s paid out. Easy peasy.

It’s a safety net not a retirement plan. Tough luck if you don’t get everything you paid in, be glad. Or we can just leave it as is so you can get yours and have it go bankrupt

I could make far better use of what I put in than the government will.

Bingo! A working married couple over age 62 will never get all the Social Security and Medicare benefits that were paid in by them and their employers.

Tough luck? We are FORCED to pay OUR money into it. It's OURS to take back.
Wish awful things on you dude. Awful things.

only way that can change on a fair basis is to stop taking money from a very early stage from the people who scum like like you try to decide will no longer have that foundation

Yeah let’s take away from the people that paid for it for all of their lives.

Try driving without insurance and get pulled over and see what happens. Try getting a mortgage without

So just to show what a rip off SS is, I put together how much I would have earned from SS with 5% yoy growth. I factored in what my employer puts in as well, so the full 12.4%. I've been maxing out SS since 1997, I projected this out to 2030. It came out to $1.15M, my wife is pretty much in the same boat as me. So basically $2.3M the government has stolen from my family, money I could retire on or my kids could inherit. Instead of letting families accumulate generational wealth, we get a Ponzi scheme.
