Former Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) is urging voters in the general election to vote for Rep. Joseph Crowley (D-N.Y.) instead of Democratic nominee Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who upset him in the party primary.

"Because the policies Ms. Ocasio-Cortez advocates are so far from the mainstream, her election in November would make it harder for Congress to stop fighting and start fixing problems."

Lieberman noted that Crowley's name will still be on the ballot as the nominee of the Working Families Party.

“Thanks to a small percentage of primary votes, all of the people of New York’s 14th Congressional District stand to lose a very effective representative in Washington,” Lieberman wrote. “Fortunately, Joe Crowley and the voters in his district can prevent this damage.”

The former 2000 Democratic vice presidential nominee also attacked Ocasio-Cortez’s policies for being “more socialist than Democratic.”

“She has received the most attention for calling to 'Abolish ICE,' Immigration and Customs Enforcement,” he wrote. “This makes no sense unless you no longer want any rules on immigration or customs to be enforced.”

Ocasio-Cortez's campaign declined to comment to The Hill. LINK

Republicans need to start secretly funneling money to her campaign. She's the best weapon in their arsenal.

More Dems turning on the all star.

And Rep. Alcee Hastings (D-FL) in an interview with The Hill said, “Meteors fizz out. What she will learn in this institution is that it’s glacial to begin with, and therefore no matter how far you rise, that’s just how far you will ultimately get your comeuppance.”

SO he gets beat in the primary, then jumps on another party’s ticket in the general? Desperate... I like it!

If Crowley runs and beats her I will be ecstatic. The Dem Civil War will happen sooner than I thought and harm them significantly in 2020.

I heard or read that he's on the Working Families (or whatever) ticket due to some quirk of NY election laws. I don't know that he actively sought their support or even has anything to do with them. He has endorsed the young socialist.

That's a hell of a quote coming from Alcee Hastings who went from being an impeached federal judge to a member of congress.

Maybe he doesn't know the meaning of the word comeuppance.

Liberman is an "I" though. His political stances are pretty much identical to McCain's without being as petty.

Since McCain is to the left of the Republicans and to the right of people like Cortez, I find Liberman's "independent" status to be a pretty accurate description. McCain, like Lieberman, should have switched parties years ago.

Looks like the Democrats are once again ignoring the results of a primary and ignoring the will of their voters.

I disagree with Joe on a lot of issues, but to this day I respect the man for behaving like a gentleman after the 2000 election instead of throwing a temper tantrum like every single other Democrat.
