I'm a veteran. My entire circle of friends are all retired SF, Rangers, Delta, 82nd men.
Not a single one would echo what the veteran you know is saying. Not one.
We have a private FB page, group texts, and we talk by phone and/or visit one another and attend reunions regularly.
Not a single one would echo your claim.
Matter of fact, given that we were all at Bragg when the Mullahs took over in Iran in '79 ... we're all saying this is long past due.
Matter of fact yesterday, 30 March 26, was the 44th anniversary of Operation Gallant Eagle 82 where we had 7 guys killed and 156 injured ... on a pratice jump to invade Iran, in the Mohave desert.
One of those killed was a buddy of mine, Bob Breitmeyer. I spoke with his Son yesterday, as we do almost every year.
And that was just a practice invasion. We practiced invasions in other jumps, like Bright Star into Cairo ... it was Iran 24/7/365 back then.
We're all very satisfied with how things are going today. It's long past due.
