But he's a good man, the last of the honorable democrats IMHO. Just saw the thread on his actions and it got me thinking..

Nope Jimmy was a piece of crap. HIs foreign affairs were awful, and put us in the mess we have today. We were finally making strides and Obama got in and went straight back to the Carer days.

In regards to the ME and Iran we were finally improving. We had just destroyed Sadam. We let the Iranians know we could totally destroy them over a weekend if need be. Obama pulled out of Iraq way to early. The Iranians now run that country, Obama made a shitty deal with Iran on the nuclear program. Obama fricked up Egypt, Lybia and Syria. The rulers in place were secularist. We let radical Muslim groups overthrow Egypt, Lybia and Syria. Obama also let thousands of Iranian disedenst die in the Green Revolution in 2009. He then pulled out of Iraq early. Recipe for disaster.

He has his personal faults too.

He beat a very good man Carl Sanders for governor by campaigning with George Wallace. Sanders refused to campaign with Wallace and was painted as a liberal. Carter sent out mailers disparaging Sanders as too friendly with blacks. Once he got in office he threw money at blacks and went the opposite way he campaigned.

He is thin skinned and acted small toward the Reagans.

He is a bitter and petty man who has never gotten over his wholesale rejection by the American people.

Jimma Cawtah was scared of his own shadow. Terribly concerned about doing the wrong thing, so he took little to no action to play it safe. His alky brother and the giant rabbit were just weird.

Carter was the only president to initiate the only peace deal in the Mideast that still stands today, that between Egypt and Israel.

Jimmy didn't initiate dog poo. Sadat was tired of seeing Egypt getting it's arse kicked by Israel. He told Jimmy to set up negotiations with Israel. Now Jimmy did earn his Peace Prize by actually doing something. He facilitated. He was also very good with the Three Mile Island accident. But that's it. The rest was crap and "malaise"!

He was the last Dixiecrat to practice racism for political gain! This is little known because DNC, MSM, over polite RNC, and Jimmy himself buried that body DEEP!

My favorite memory of Jimmy was the look of dismay on his face when the DNC's favored commies in Nicaragua lost the first free election. Haven't seen its like until the Trump 2016 melt!

Invading Iraq was the worst foreign policy mistake in at least 100 years, maybe in the history of the whole country.

We have Syrian refugees coming to the US because when we whacked Iraq and threw the Iraqi army out of work, it morphed (I can't spell metastasized) into ISIS and overran part of Syria. Between us, the Syrian national government, ISIS, Russia, France and so on, much of Syria got wrecked.

There are hundreds of Syrians resettled just a few miles from where I live, so I personally wish you would wake the frick up.

This.

Iraq will turn out to be the worst mistake in world history. It completely destabilized the entire Mideast and enabled islam to spread and takeover the entire continent of Europe.

Our world is never going to be the same.

He's got a big arse solar field tho. I heard it powers half of his hometown. That's pretty cool.

The 1976 election was the first national election I was old enough to vote in. I probably would have voted for Carter but was actually deployed to Europe.

Anyway, the thing I recall about Carter being president was how he and his people would always say why they COULDN'T act. Or get anything done. Ever. He had some bad luck. The Oil embargo, interest rates skyrocketed. But he did suck.

Carter was a workaholic and he was pretty smart personally. But he couldn't delegate anything. He wound up making the schedule for the White House tennis courts.

He is a nice guy, but I can't stand to hear his voice still after all these years.

Iraq was a mistake, bad intel, and all. However after the Surge we had it under control. The only reason ISIS and Iran came into the picture was not on Bush , but Obama leaving at the time and the way he did. No doubt Valerie Jarrett the head Iranian in the WH had something to do with that. Then Obama/Jarrett went on to overthrow long standing Secular govts in Egypt, Lybia and Syria. All in the name of handing them over to ISIS and the Muslim Bro. Hood.

Iraq should have been “invasion – proof” by us because of what Cheney said in 1994: “Pieces might fly off.” Saddam was creepy but what he was really good at was terror and torture and secret police and playing factions off one against the other. Hitler was good at that too.

A stable Iraq was good for US interests. During the Iran-Iraq (1980-88) war we helped both sides. We gave the Iranians weapons and spare parts and we gave Iraq satellite intel.

The Bushies were not incompetent in deciding to invade Iraq. They did it to look tough on terror, having failed miserably on 9/11, and to pursue Israel's objectives, not ours.

Carter was unlucky in a lot of things. Reagan was lucky that Iran and Iraq were distracted the whole time he was president. And he still managed to get about 260 US servicemen killed in Lebanon.
