Guaranteed this vilification continues with the next Republican in the White House. It's not really about Trump and more about some of the things already mentioned in this thread.

Whitlock is correct as usual. With that said, I knew it was a bad idea for Dart to introduce Trump as soon as it happened. It would be nice for professional athletes to stay out of politics during their playing career. You’re either going to alienate fans or you’re going create drama in the locker room. There’s definitely a double standard though.

No that’s exactly what happened. Your denial of reality is on you not what transpired

“The debate centers on a specific press conference in April 2009, where Obama stated: "I believe in American exceptionalism, just as I suspect that the Brits believe in British exceptionalism and the Greeks believe in Greek exceptionalism but rejected the core principle that America has a divinely ordained, inherently superior role in global affairs.”

This situation illustrates the political divide. The backlash basically signals it’s not ok to support Trump publicly. And it works. The problem is people still do support Trump, so when it happens publicly, the mindset that rejects it being ok sees an extreme position being taken. This has compounded for a decade now.

The individuals on the giants were kids when this started, it’s now ingrained in our culture. There is nothing to “speak out” against, but the speaking happens and sounds as empty as the thought behind it.

Thanks for posting the quote. It literally says Obama believed in American exceptionalism. He just rejected the idea that America has a divinely assigned monopoly on greatness. Those are not the same claim.

No, I’m not ignoring it baw. People have absolutely said ugly things about Trump. The part you keep skipping is where criticism, outrage, social backlash, and government illegality become magically interchangeable.

Once again Whitock gets it. At least, for a while he had a national voice, so we got to know him a bit and can appreciate the voice he still has.

It is only a matter of time before Whitlock is attacked by a progressive. They hate guys like him. They want him "Kirked" next.

Bubba you’re blurring together public criticism, private consequences, and government action as if they’re interchangeable. They aren’t.

You do realize that either you believe in American exceptionalism or you don’t. Stating that it’s no different than what other countries feel is about themselves is not expressing a core sense of exceptionalism for America. What a country feels for its people is called nationalism which is different than exceptionalism. So would you think that Obama was referring to America and his belief in American nationalism instead. That would be odd because he refers to America nationalism as supremacy
