Maybe he was set up to fail. Cambridge was under a lot of pressure to hire a person of color. They new this guy was a lunatic. So they made a big deal out of hiring him and just waited for to make a fool of himself.

That's what I was thinking until I read more about how Arday treated those students, reporters and anyone else that asked questions. He was a vile human. CU gave him a hell of an assist, but he was garbage all by himself.

Academia didn’t fall for it, they created it. The CRT academics were recruited specifically because their field is academic astrology and the universities knew the subject matter couldn’t be discredited.
What academia never envisioned was the coming of AI and its ability to quickly identify the patterns of a handful of people that were all copying one another, creating new papers, and then publishing them as contributions to learned achievement.
