I wonder if he told Reagan the same thing back in the 80s.

Why wouldn't I think that his comment included them?
it's still irrelevant
yes or no: we have laws on immigration, correct?
yes or no: "Dreamers" did not follow the proper legal procedures to gain permission to stay in this country, correct?

Yes or no. They were minors whenever their failings occurred.

yes, but that's irrelevant
again, we're talking about immigration laws, not emotional stories or outcomes we don't like
if you don't like the outcome of a legal system, then change the actual legal system. don't ignore parts you don't like to make yourself feel better

You do know that people who cross the border in Mexico ALL go to jail when they catch them. Mexican jails are not very nice places either.
Mexico does not have a DACA program and neither should the US.
There are enough people trying to come to the US legally. They pay a lot of money to get here. Why should we reward people who are cutting in line AND breaking our immigration laws?
There is a person I'm the military that took some pictures of a 40 year old submarine. The military found out, had a trial, and put him n jail. If he has to go to jail for taking pics of a 40 year old sub, then a person breaking our immigration law should also go to jail.
If people do not like the law, then change it. Why do we want to reward some people for breaking a law and penalize other people for breaking a law?

I think equating the "dreamers" scenario to criminality is pretty silly.

When does it end? What immigration laws can the president enforce without your side screaming?

It seems to me that Amnesty Plus Enforcement is a compromise both sides should accept. Liberals have been in favor of this.

Why? They’re here illegally, correct?
Posted on 1/21/18 at 9:57 pm to Tigerdev
I'm fine with them staying but allowing them to vote would be bullshite and a slap in the face to immigrants who came here legally AND became citizens.

why is that a compromise? that is basically the DEM's full request

So he's screaming that minors who had no knowledge of or intent to break immigration laws should be thrown in jail.
No he wants them deported and wants jail time for anyone that enables them to stay...meaning lawmakers of sanctuary cities.

why?
you can argue that it wasn't intentional, but not all crimes require intent

Why not just enforcement? Anything else would seem to discriminate against them. Why should some get off while others are punished for the same actions? As a country, thats not who we are.

Most of the quotes I read from Woods make me imagine him screaming them as he tries to pull away from two guys in white coats. So he's screaming that minors who had no knowledge of or intent to break immigration laws should be thrown in jail. Bring in the men in the white coats.

quote:We need a line in the sand that takes the existing people who are here living as Americans through no fault of their own out of the equation. That takes the emotion out of it. Amnesty plus enforcement is not only smart politics...it's reasonable.
I'm fine with them staying
