He deserves this. For years of not opening his eyes and seeing what he invited in. Made your bed now lay in it.
But if he really cares, he needs to start fighting against it now. And that means maybe supporting some things and people he otherwise wouldn’t.

Quite possible, but if it happens it won't last long.
There would be too many from the progressive left in that movement and the RINOs would be too weak to hold them in check, so eventually it would go down the same path as the current Democratic party.
If so, it might look something like the Democratic Party changes its name to something like "The Democratic Socialists Party" as it moved deeper towards Communism. Eventually the Establishment Party would try to capitalize on some sort of nostalgia movement and rename themselves the Democratic Party.

As far as policy goes, he implemented the largest tax hike in US history and gave our nuke tech to China. Within his party, he caused more defection from D to R than anyone in modern history. That's why D's lost the majority. A lot of the R's were recently democrats. Between Clinton and his boy David Bonior, they drove out anyone who wasn't in line with a harder left turn.
I know it doesn't seem like that compared to today's clown show, but at the time, it was a massive shift, without which Obama would not have been possible.
