re: Jack Dorsey just laid off half of work force. The severance is quite healthy.

So he is asking the rest to continue to build with to what? Eventually have AI take over and put all his employees out of the job? What is the point of all this? Replace human workforce with AI and make people dependant on it? This is going to be a very bad future if we allow this to continue.

1.) frick this guy for refusing to use capitalization and write like a fricking 5 year old instead.
2.) For fricks sake this kind of shite makes me sick. Humanity just needs to fricking end at this point.

i'll also be hosting a live video session to thank everyone at 3:35pm pacific. i know doing it this way might feel awkward. i'd rather it feel awkward and human than efficient and cold.
to those of you leaving…i’m grateful for you, and i’m sorry to put you through this. you built what this company is today. that's a fact that i'll honor forever.

I’m guessing learning how to code people need to shovel coal for energy used for their AI powered plants

In five years I will be replaced by 401k and social security. I’m hoping AI can do my wife’s to do lists by then so I can hunt and fish

I would love to see the AI be used, first and foremost, in the government employee sector.

The technology is there to get rid of pilots all together. Luckily the airlines have billions invested in airplanes that require pilots to fly. Not to mention the unions that will fight it and the slow moving federal regulatory bodies that would have to get on board with pilotless airplanes
Acceptance will hinder AI pilots the most.
The overwhelming majority of us do not trust self-driving cars. Imagine the public trust of self-flying airliners.

I doubt these were coders. More likely middle management roles of bullshite. As said, this was getting rid of their bloat of over hiring when money was cheap and they were trending up. Revenue is stagnant and they need to cut payroll costs from non revenue producing positions.

If I only had a dollar....
Been hearing this since the auto manufacturing industry went automated in the late 70's.

Luckily I’m a pilot. I’m safe
Right seat or left? Couldn't one be replaced with AI?
As a pilot myself, I would not allow my family to fly on an airliner with only one pilot.
In fact, I wouldn’t work for an airline that only requires one pilot in the cockpit. I wouldn’t want to fly a commercial airliner by myself. It’s too much work for one person and too many minor mistakes happen. Thankfully, it’s usually caught by the other pilot.

And yet Wall Street still rewards companies big time for slashing 40% of their jobs.
It's not "Wall Street". It's shareholders. The gains in people's retirement accounts aren't from the magical stock gains tree in the heart of the Amazon jungle.

Dorsey needs to come to Baton Rouge and fire 40% of the city's administration and staff. They are useless grifters.
Actually, make it 80%

I started using our new in house built AI for work the last couple weeks. I absolutely see the end of a lot of jobs in the very very near future. It does not take long to get an ai agent working and as long as it has a connector to your data, it can do miracles in seconds
It's not just going to cause labor reductions at the primary jobs, but all those companies that provide application platforms to companies will not be needed as much either.i am not a techie, but if you have the data in a basic format, AI can do whatever you need it to do that companies are now paying outside platforms applications to do. All those silos of information is gone so no need to go to someone else to provide you with information you need, ai gives it to me in seconds.
