Yeah, but the problem there is the vast majority of its workforce, its most valuable commodity, the players had a strong opinion that they had to deal with. They basically blackballed Kapaernick, but they couldn't can 50% of the players. You see, unlike you or me, they are a very difficult commodity to replace.

Again, I'm not saying the NFL/Washington are "good" or "right" in their decision to fine Del Rio...only that it is their right to act poorly and the 1A is in no way implicated in this mess.

Del Rio initially commented on the insurrection via Twitter ahead of Congressional hearings, comparing the insurrection to the protests after George Floyd was killed, which he called “riots.”
because they were riots, complete with burning and murder, etc.

These gaslighting pieces of shite.

The whole atmosphere is Soviet style, from the thought police imposing punishment to the ministry of truth perpetuating lies. This is not a coincidence.

The libertarian position is applying the 1A to corporations or constraining companies from firing/fining people as they see fit.

Was he fined by the government? His first amendment rights are not being violated unless he was.
The NFL, his employer, has something like nine hundred rules and bylaws and they used one to fine him. It's all in the "fine print" of league contracts.

USSR dissolved in 1991. Russia is not a communist nation. You can say it's run by corrupt individuals but it is not a communist nation and hasn't been for some time.

While the Washington Stadium was privately funded something like 80% of the stadiums receive public financing.

The league is not without government ties when it comes to speech. A suit could be appropriate. There's enough money and enough of a punitive component for an attorney to file for sure.

What's the standard for what you can and can not say though?

I mean if he had lied, slandered someone, used inappropriate language, incited violence etc.. that's one thing. He did none of those things. Who is the arbiter of what can, and can not, be said?

Correct. Now the ACLU, they are there to protect people from companies discriminating against others based on their political beliefs. They are oddly silent about this.

They basically blackballed Kapaernick

That and Kapaernick sucked terribly. One of his last on field attempts he was 4/20 with 3 interceptions. Also, don't forget about the shitshow of his "private workout" for owners that he decided to move venues at teh last minute where scouts couldn't evaluate him.

Kapaernick makes more money being a victim than he does a football player. But then again, so do all leftists. They don't produce anything of value.

I did not see the incident.
Was he at work when he made the comment?

Can coaches speak to current events, or can they do so only when their speech is approved by the party?

Jack Del Rio fined $100K for having a Conservative opinion, and nothing will be done to Stan Van Gundy for having a Liberal opinion.

Great country we live in.
