They've been woke for years.
In 2016 or 2017 they cancelled a Clay Travis deal because he spoke out against changing name on some building at Vanderbilt.

I agree with your statement.
Jack Daniels is a Tennessee whiskey. They lowered the proof to 80 in the mid 2000’s and I’m not a fan of their flavor profile and after bite.
Evan Williams is a Kentucky bourbon. 86 proof, smoother and a nice finish on the pallet.

Evan Williams 1783 is my go-to. Smooth enough to sip straight, but at $30/handle, cheap enough to mix.

But that Jack 10 year 12 year and single barrel barrel proof are sooo damn good
Jack is a Brown Forman product like Old Forester. That 1920 and 1910 are both excellent and always on my shelf
