In the general, we should all vote for Trump of course.

But if we have Bernie as the Dem nominee, we actually have a socialist we can use to club the Rockefeller republicans with if they betray President Trump and cooperate with establishment Dem efforts to remove him from office.

So three more months and three general election debates to explain what he’s gonna do?

Y’all are just like the Democrats in ‘16 who were all about Trump thinking he couldn’t win

A Bernie vs Trump general election would be a large frick you to the establishment class, as both are relative outsiders attempting to shake up the system in different ways. But for some reason, if such a scenario were to happen, I still think the media and the elite they protect wouldn't be able to read the tea leaves and see how sick pretty much everyone in the country is of the status quo. Maybe they would, but the last minute scrambling the Dems are doing in Iowa to prevent a Sanders victory is insane to me, as it isn't like Sanders hasn't been campaigning for the last 4 years. Are they that stupid that they couldn't see what he was doing?

If America elects a socialist president the country is already lost.

Just get marshmallows.

Yes

Have you never watched him "explain what he's gonna do"?

Hurry up, have 6 months and 6 debates.

Did Trump have a track record of running for President the five years before 2016?

Bernie’s a known quantity at this point. And he scares big chunks of the Dem party shitless because they think he will either lose big or fail miserably if he wins. Either way, he is a long term drag on their party.

Yea, I’d really prefer Biden. A, his mind likely doesn’t hold up through the election anyway. But even if it does, B, his family is corrupt as shite and I think trump already has the evidence of it. He just doesn’t want to waste it on the impeachment stuff if he doesn’t have to. Would rather Biden get the nomination first, then shine the light on the corruption after when there is no going back for the dems.

You're thinking too short term

If Bernie wins the nomination it just gives socialists a win

The more we allow the inclusion of socialists in the main stream the more likely that we actually a get a Sanders type as president one day

I know precisely what he is going to do.

What we have to do here in this election is to end the agenda of people like Romney, McCain, Bush, Collins, Murkowski, Clinton, Pelosi, Schumer, Rahm Emmanuel, etc. Notice that these people are both Republicans and Democrats. Unless we do that, we are never going to be able to have nice things.

I would much prefer to do this with a constitutional, conservative, nationalist candidate like President Trump. But if the GOP swamp works with the Dem swamp to remove him from office, we need a plan B.

Also, a Trump V. Sanders election would provide absolute clarity of vision as far as where you want the country to go.

You’ll have to share them, of course, with those who are marshmallow-deprived.

Eugene V Dems ran as a socialist as a national candidate in multiple elections. Doesn’t seem to have helped them much unless you are conceding certain subsequent presidents as socialists.

Bernie has been in politics most of his adult life. He is far from an outsider. Just no one likes him due to his socialistic extreme views.

The difference is now the political left has a lot of control in media and in social media outlets

Just because something happened once it doesn't mean the outcome will be the same if it happens again

And Sanders would certainly get a much larger vote share than Debs ever did

Bernie would be polarizing as hell.

He would probably do extremely well in urban areas but get his arse kicked outside of them.

What I think is a bigger concern for the Dems is that Bernie potentially breaks their fractious caucus into several pieces

The youth vote and the hard left would clearly go Bernie. Feminists, blacks, blue collar whites, etc? Not necessarily.

The Dems are precariously balanced so they can win if they get their turnout in certain groups. But Bernie won’t his those thresholds.

With black voters in particular, Bernie has a horrible track record of getting their vote while Trump is trending upward.

If Trump gets a sizable percentage of the black vote, the Dems may be screwed long term without a realignment because their strategy is based on getting about 80% or more of the black vote plus high turnout.

If those black voters bolt and vote Republican, they may never return to the Dems. And that should scare them.

I am confident in a fair election that Trump would smoke Bernie.

I am not confident in a fair election.

Bernie would make us long for the days of Obama.
