I believe the US Government controls the military and the military hardware.
Not to say there would not be some individual service members who might leave. But the military hardware, weapons, command and control and most of the soldiers would stay in place and have an interest in keeping the United States together. So you boys with Small rifles would have no chance against the Feds in a prolonged action.

Hell ... you're way behind the times.
Our SC Oathkeepers Chapter has almost doubled it's membership in the past three years to total over 8k state wide and we guesstimate, based upon active membership trends ... we guesstimate that to be roughly ten percent of what the actual participation rate to be if things turn really nasty.
Upstate, Piedmont and Low Country Chapters have all three been on membership drives for the past year.
City and town chapters have all reported spikes in paid memberships in the last six months.
We're a low pop state. I was told Georgia and Tennessee new memberships are through the roof.

I know plenty of soldiers, and have two cousins who have served, not one of them would fight a civil war on American soil on behalf the progressive democrats.

Good for you!!!!!!!!!!!...I talked my son-in-law into becoming involved in oathkeepers several years ago....he is actually in the state government( i will not reveal that state) and is involved in law enforcement oversight

There are, no doubt, more liberals serving in our military than ever before. Obama made sure that happened. But two things to consider ...
1) Liberals usually serve in combat support and clerk roles.
2) Posse Comitatus limits what our military can do domestically and most field grade officers would rebel against anyone giving an order to attack our own citizenry.
With that said it is the governors, who along with their generals, who have the most control over their national guard units ... reserves not included of course.
Bottom line is that Conservatives and true Constitution loving patriots dominate our combat arms units ... even the flyboys and their pilots.
ETA: One thing most civilians do not understand is that we retired guys left guys who served under us in charge. They in turn have people in the command structure who served under them, and so on. That's not counting family members, sons, grandsons and so on and so forth.
When it comes to combat arms Conservatives dominate ... and that includes maintenance.

No, federal troops would ensure there was no violence between different groups, as they have done on numerous other occasions in American history.

I’m not advocating violence. I mean just being prepared for self defense. Sure you have guns and can protect yourself and your home but in the case of large numbers of violent leftists hitting the streets it would be better to have a defense strategy in the form of organized numbers of law abiding citizens

Agree. I in no way meant starting any type of war or violence. But I think the left wants war. And we should simply be prepared just in case.
