I did. Mizzou in the 90s was woke. But probably no comparison to today.
My oldest went to a state school. But it was a 6-year medical program, so limited opportunities for the hive mind to inject.
My youngest is at Samford.
Do I think we did a good job instilling values into our kids? Sure. Am I going to pay someone $30k-$40k/yr to try to indoctrinate my child? No.

thing is we are smart enough to know the damage 4 years in a university laden with marxist professors can ruin your child regardless of home values they were taught. this thread has listed examples of it.
my youngest has no social media and TV is monitored...but we also talk politics to get her educated little by little and how the real world works, etc.
She is being recruited by southern schools for a sport. She is also being recruited by two northeast schools. BC and providence college.
as much as i like the city of boston as i am an avid celtics fan.....i cannot stand the politics of the NE as we all know about. thus, NFW is she going to school at either place. she will go to a southern school. Eliminate or lower risks. no reason to play russian roulette.

I'm basing my decisions on observed facts, available data, potential alternatives, anecdotes from a multitude of other parents and colleagues who've gone through this same process and my personal and professional lived experiences.

Instill proper values, have faith in those values and your children. Allow them to navigate the marketplace of ideas just like you have been allowed to do.

Well, I was on scholarship, living at home and paying about $1000/yr for school.
Plus, I was a Classics student.

From what I've heard from friends and neighbors with their kids attending state schools like Texas Tech, Texas A&M, etc. things aren't that much different at those either.

I feel so bad for that girl from Birmingham. I've thought the same thing. Why would a nice girl from Mountain Brook want to go to Rhode Island for college? Plenty of great universities in the South without crazy lefties that will kill you because if your political beliefs.

The vast majority of "elite" colleges are not worth it. A good state school is a far better return on your investment for the vast majority of students/families.
Now, if you are from an elite, independently wealthy family, you do you.
