They have been the largest state sponsor of terrorism in the world for going on 5 decades. I don't want the largest state sponsor of terrorism to have a nuclear weapon. That is what we are fighting for, not gas prices.

I know you'll all say "No boots on the ground" so it's different. But if it can't be accomplished with boots on the ground, it's not going to be accomplished without them either.
The straight wasn't even closed at all until we started attacking them. The very problem this thread is about was a consequence of our other actions.
What did those actions accomplish? Nothing except creating problems like this.
Some of you keep supporting doing more and more and getting deeper and deeper into the shite in response to the problems you've created and then you turn around and claim they are the ones that are irrational.

Saddam didn't have WMD, Osama wasn't even in Afganistan.

Most people don’t know the difference between Hezbollah and Iran.
Hezbollah is Arabic and Iran is Persian. Hezbollah is an Arabic terrorist organization and Iran is the country. Iran started paying Hezbollah in the early 80’s to fight Iraq and have been stuck with them ever since. They can’t get them out of their country and are basically forced to continue to pay them. Hezbollah don’t care about the Iranian people. Hezbollah is made up of people from Lebanon and Syria. Iranians and Hezbollah don’t even speak the same language.
It doesn’t matter what deals we make with Iran Hezbollah will continue to put mines out and attack tankers and ships.
To stop this conflict we have to take out Hezbollah. Hezbollah only has about 50,000 fighters, but they are trained better more than the Iranian army.

What was accomplished by those previous actions? Not a damn thing.
And you guys would rather keep charging forward rather than admit - well that was a huge frick up. I guess you figure in 20 years you can all pretend like you didn't support the bullshite, just like with Iraq and Afghanistan. Or you'll find someone else to blame for the failures.

The chemical weapons you mention are the ones we gave Saddam in the 80s to use against Iran.
They have a shelf life and that shelf life was over LONG before 2003.
