Look, I don't mind if we just keep the status-quo... boycott & blockade Iranian ports (exception for humanitarian reasons) while we strangle them financially.
Iran, lashes out (like a cornered animal)..., only hoping for people to say "what about mhu gas prices -- think I'll vote for Talafricko".

Who exactly are you calling cowardly--the Iranian government for abandoning an unsuccessful policy, or ordinary Iranians for not wanting to be impoverished indefinitely on their government's behalf?
I am talking about using economic pressure to make the government stop interfering with passage through the Strait of Hormuz. You have transformed that limited policy concession into the Iranian people surrendering their country, then invoked "better red than dead." Those are not remotely the same thing.
The government makes the decision. The citizenry pays most of the price for its supposed courage.

If Russia built a bunch of bases in the Caribbean and Gulf, and then used those bases to kill our president and leadership, and attacked our military you would immediately want to surrender to Russia? Would you welcome Russia and happily install their puppet to be our leader? Or would you say Death to Russia and do anything you could to resist?
And if you started trying to hit economic targets to weaken them, is them taking out one also going to suddenly make you give in?
You are fighting for gas prices, they are fighting for their country.
But sure, let's spend the next 20 years accomplishing nothing more than filling the pockets of corruption for the ones making the weapons...yet a fricking gain.

We have been demanding complete surrender, threatened to wipe out their entire civilization, killed their leaders multiple times and you think this is about economics only?
You are fighting for the petro dollar and gas prices, they are fighting for their country.
You can pretend otherwise for some odd arse reason, but that's the reality and it doesn't at all benefit us to pretend otherwise. This is exactly how we end up over there for fricking decades wasting trillions of dollars and countless lives.
