Was elected with a plurality of 47% and then 49.2%. Never had much of a mandate though he thought he did. But he did try to keep himself popular with both sides so he was moderate. Nowadays he'd be a radical.

Bill Clinton was the consummate politician, and he was a great politician. His first 2 years in office were AWFUL because he was too busy paying off campaign promises. The ludicrous "Don't ask, don't tell" was literally the first thing he rolled out. After that, remember that he put Hillary in charge of fixing healthcare? That was a monumental disaster.
So, 1994 roles around and the GOP takes the House for the first time in something like 40 years. But Clinton, being the sharp guy he was, knew that the smart play for him was to go along with Gingrich and pass some moderate and even conservative legislation.
In typical Clinton style, though, he never once gave Gingrich any credit. That's despite the fact that Gingrich gave Clinton the cover he needed to salvage his Presidency.

I'll be honest. I actually thought the bastages would've rolled something out by now. We still have 2 more months of Winter, though, so stay tuned. These plannedemics usually occur in the Winter, or so it seems.
