I disagree with you here.
He is the prototypical politician who will come across well on the TV and his looks and talk will cause suburban people to ignore his policies in California.
I just don’t know if he and his money people are willing to sacrifice a chance at the presidency with a non standard campaign.

Believe it or not, dems will vote for Trump in the booth because 2016 was better than 2020 and they know it.
In a Biden v Trump race for sure.
Whoever replaces Biden (if they replace him) has the opportunity to run away from Biden.
Trump HAS to hammer the point that the left LIED to you. They have run this country and told you Joe was fine and he wasn’t. That should be an unforgivable lie.

I think how much I think of of the average American then I realize 50% of America is below that line and realize there is no way to account for rationality in a national election
I came to this conclusion living in the Houston metro area and young professionals I knew that were evangelicals who worked in oil and gas still voted for Biden over Trump.
If someone who I respect in intelligence otherwise did something that idiotic to their personal interests then I realized I would never be able to fully predict the idiocy of 50% of America

Given all the back door things going on in the Democrat Party....that evidently the Obamas have their desired replacement, and the Clinton's have theirs, I have to wonder if Biden inviting Newsom to the debate was his checkmate. Newsom is the only Dem with any possibility of coming in late and winning. Michelle is not going to run, and Kamala and any other Dem behind her would get destroyed. Maybe if RFK was invited back, but I think that ship has sailed.
Was this Jill's way of saying, that Obama and Clinton don't want you (to Newsom), so come to the debate and rub it in their faces?

It’s a high school popularity contest.
A big name will be nominated with little time to think on it

Crazy. Wasnt this the guy that his own state hated. He was a disaster during covid and criticized left and right, now hes their great hope and a superstar in the dem party. What the hell happened?

I hate Kamala Harris. She’s a fricking idiot. But after the debate on Thursday night she should be sworn in immediately.
You raise a valid point. If Joe is such a liability Why isn’t the media crying for him to be replaced immediately? If he can’t run a campaign why the hell is he running our country?

Part of me thinks that there are many people who would appreciate a return to a prototypical sleezy-but polished-politician.
Not saying Newsom would win but I think he’d be a problem for Trump.

That might be a problem. He’s smooth. Think Obamas stage presence.
What I’m worried about his folks outside of Cali not knowing what he’s done to that state.
Trump needs to bring facts against him. Not hyperbole.
Assuming the change to Newsome survives legal challenges at the state level. Will be tough without the 25th.

Just my opinion here, but I believe Newsom is such a problematic national candidate that he actually makes Biden the better candidate, full stop.

It all comes down to Hillary. If she wants to run again, she will railroad the delegates again. Donors don't want to see San Fran homeless camps, shite everywhere and people leaving their cars open so windows don't get smashed. I don't think Newsom is even top 3.
Oh and it is still her turn.
If on the first round nobody gets the required 4,000 delegates which probably wouldn't happen in round 1, then 700 super delegates get to vote. I would bet anything Hillary is already locking those down. She has all of the receipts from the when they steam rolled Bernie.
I did say if, but it has to eat at her soul that she lost and Joe beat Trump so i think Hillary does enter the fray.
Oh except this is all moot. Biden isn't dropping out.

You’re giving the electorate too much credit. They like ear candy. Newsome can deliver that.

I would bet 85% of the general public couldn't tell you who he is.

And that’s what’s scary. He looks and sounds good. That’s good enough for leftists.

It'll be Biden. Thursday night's debate was an outlier. There's a lot of vim and vigor left in that old man.

Newsom doesn't play outside his West Coast, mostly white, affluent base. I think he would lose a general election. No name recognition.
Democrats may have more success with Ro Khanna or an ethnic wildcard than Newsom

It has to be. How do you explain to the 90% of blacks who vote D that the DNC just passed right over the VP?

Somewhat, but Kamala has gone up more and is the current favourite (behind Biden himself). Lot of movement away from Biden as the nominee this evening on PredictIt (over 15% down for Biden versus this AM).
