We’re a pretty red state as it is and as much as this could help stop bs outside issues I think we’ll be ok …. But what the f do I know… I do know we have a lot of very conservative counties with not a lot of people, and they need a certain percentage of signatures to get something on the ballot.

My issue with some posters in this thread is that you complain about 6 week abortion bans and heart beat bills, but then are silent when states like Ny and CA pass bills that legalize elective abortion up until birth

Both are equally unpopular and radical

What is so bad about making our laws more like the median European nation when it comes to abortion? Banning elective abortions after 12-15 weeks or so

I think that’s a very reasonable middle ground

It balances choice and ethical concerns as viability is approached

Again, this has nothing to do with abortion despite how much the Republicans in the Ohio House and Senate tried to sell it as such.

Then what was the impetus for it?

A supermajority in the house and Senate trying to eliminate citizens initiatives being on the ballot by requiring 5% signatures in each of the 88 counties. Forest through the trees my man.

That’s because even plenty of GOP voters want some choice.

Putting abortion rights in the constitution will be put to a vote, and will only need a simple majority. This ballot attempted to raise it to 60%.

And you can bet the abortion measure will be on the ballot the same time as the presidential election.

Dewine is basically bought and paid for by the Ohio Board of Pharmacy, so he will do everything in his power to keep MJ illegal recreationally

Literally the overwhelming majority of the state populations in Illinois and NY live in densely populated cities like what I just mentioned above. What’s so fricking hard to understand about that? Did you miss my point?

There were some solid arguments for a yes vote, but putting the question to the voters in August of an off year looked like the sneaky power play it was. The voters saw through that.

In the future there are going to be 50% of the population who want something stupid in their Constitution, they're going to get it and then regret soon after.

Pretty sure it’s always been 50.1 %. Why the republicans trying to change it now?
