There are 9 million more people in just the Los Angeles Metropolitan area than the entire country of Israel. Probably has something to do with volume and time.

Colombia uses them too. Counted entire country's ballots within hours. While it's typically an unorganized shithole, Colombia makes the US' elections look like a fricking joke (although likely intentionally a mess).
The Socialists (Democrats) would have no chance if this country went paper ballots and expectation of same-day election results.
They know that. That’s why they’ll fight with every tool at their disposal to prevent it from ever happening.
ETA: And for sure, they inexplicably have enough GOP “allies” who’ll also help to ensure it doesn’t happen.

Why does America not use paper ballots?
What does it matter? Seriously?
Say you want a recount, but I’ve already created a stack of fake paper ballots and inserted them into the system. How would you even find and remove them? Voting is anonymous, there are no names or signatures on the ballots themselves. What in our legal system would let us reliably identify which ones to discard, and would we actually do it?
To me, paper ballots are mostly a facade of security. They’re easier to manipulate in low-tech ways without leaving the kind of electronic trail that might get noticed. In that sense, they can enable a quieter form of election theft.

I guess that is why the USA and maybe one other country in the world uses electronics instead of paper. We are so smart, right.
