Keep an eye on the skirmishes between Hezbollah and Israel.
Hamas is nothing... NOTHING... compared to Hezbollah.
It has to be limited here or it will expand to an all-out war involving Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Iran, Jordan
and the US. Hezbollah is the lynchpin.

I haven't seen much discussion about the importance of the Gulf states, Saudi Arabia and Jordan in this worrisome scenario.
The Gulf states are extremely wealthy, depend very highly on the US for defense (as does Saudi Arabia) and have NO love for the Palestinians and Iran.
Iran hates the Gulf states and Saudi Arabia (different Islamic sects and such) and would not mind seeing them anihilated.
Jordan leans heavily west, although it's in a very precarious position (geographically and politically) and its current queen is Palestinian. The King is a constitutional monarch who is the son of a British woman, has a British and American education. Abdullah can't show overt support for the west although that's where his heart is.
These are important players who have to be considered in the overall picture. But it's such a dangerous picture with some really shady, really questionable individuals involved.
